Born and bred in Spain, this dynamic director/producer has been consistently breaking barriers and pushing boundaries with his captivating work.

UTA has signed director/producer Jesús Colmenar for representation in all areas.

Colmenar is widely recognized for serving as the showrunner on one of Netflix’s highly-watched shows, “Money Heist” (also known as “La Casa de Papel”), directing the initial episode and more than 20 episodes of the popular Spanish series. The series revolves around a band of unconventional criminals who collaborate under the tutelage of “the Professor” to execute a series of daring bank heists in Spain. The success of “Money Heist” led to the creation of its prequel spinoff series, “Berlin,” which has been renewed for a second season on Netflix and is set to film in 2025.

Hailing from Spain, Colmenar swiftly gained recognition in the television industry, having directed over 60 episodes of various shows including “Los Hombres de Paco” and “El Barco.” His work extends to numerous episodes of “El Embarcadero (The Pier)” for Moviestar+, “Vis a Vis (Locked Up)” for Globomedia and Netflix, as well as “Sky Rojo” for Netflix.

After completing the filming of Alex Pina’s upcoming Netflix series, Colmenar is now set to direct a horror movie for 21 Laps. Moreover, he has plans to helm two separate thrillers, one in collaboration with AGBO and another with Bruckheimer.
