As a seasoned Warzone player with countless hours invested in the game and countless encounters with cheaters, I find myself both hopeful and skeptical about the recent changes to Ricochet anti-cheat in Black Ops 6 Season 1. On one hand, I’ve seen firsthand how cheating has become a rampant issue, especially in Warzone, making it difficult for honest players like me to enjoy the game. So, any effort to curb this problem is welcome.
Players of Warzone remain skeptical regarding the recent updates to Ricochet anti-cheat system in Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1, with some expressing their belief that these changes will have no impact on reducing cheating activities.
Over the past few years, the problem of cheating in Call of Duty has become more prevalent, particularly in Warzone. Back when Verdansk was at its peak, you’d often encounter players exploiting wall hacks and God mode to gain an unfair advantage over other gamers.
Due to a surge in cheaters, numerous players decided to quit the game. However, developers responded by introducing an anti-cheat system called Ricochet. Since its initial launch, Ricochet has gone through multiple updates and has been actively banning cheating accounts on a regular basis.
As Black Ops 6’s Season 1 kicks off, Warzone will now be connected to the latest game version. The anti-cheat system is also getting a boost, becoming more adept at identifying players who use VPNs. Additionally, you’ll need to secure 50 victories in multiplayer before gaining access to Ranked mode.
The developers of Black Ops 6 and Warzone are gradually restricting the use of VPNs by modifying ping limits. To participate in Multiplayer Ranked matches, you’ll now need to have won 50 matches on the Multiplayer mode instead.

Some players, however, fear that the changes are going to do “nothing” to get rid of cheaters.
“Does it seem like I’m hallucinating, or will this have minimal impact on 2boxing?” one player questioned. “The developers might not be the sharpest tools in the shed regarding this issue. The real ‘VPN abuse’ isn’t about ping, and now they’re going to prevent OCE players from joining ranked games, and likely disrupt people who play with friends from different regions,” another commented.
1) The first person said, “This is just nonsense.” In the meantime, it seems operatives are acting freely within covert missions.
Streamer Ebatez expressed concern on Twitter that reducing SBMM (Skill-Based Matchmaking) through VPN use is a bigger issue for them than dealing with obvious aimbotters. They admitted it seems problematic to them. Another player echoed similar sentiments, stating that addressing this issue in the way suggested won’t be effective.
We’re more worried about VPN’ing for SBMM reduction than blatant aimbotters.
It’s cooked I fear

In Season 1, it might take a while to determine if the changes are successful in addressing the issue of cheating. The impact won’t be immediate and noticeable right after the update has been released.
