As a long-time fan with a heart full of nostalgia and a mind always ready for new adventures, I must say that NetherRealm Studios never ceases to amaze me! The latest Kombat Kast was nothing short of thrilling, especially with the addition of Ghostface from Scream. The fact that there are three Ghostfaces in one character is just mind-blowing and adds a whole new layer of strategy to the game.

Today, NetherRealm Studios unveiled the most recent Kombat Kast – their semi-regular live show focusing on upcoming characters and features for Mortal Kombat 1. Despite Halloween having passed, the event continued to generate chills with a comprehensive unveiling of Ghostface from Scream. An intriguing twist was added: This character represents not one, but three Ghostfaces, and two of them hail from the Mortal Kombat universe.

The Kombat Kast debuted by unveiling the gameplay trailer featuring the latest combatant, showcasing various moves, combinations, a self-referential Fatality, and a hint of his Animality transformation into a buzzard. Following this, it was detailed that the initial Ghostface, the one relocated to the Mortal Kombat universe, serves as the primary fighter, with the ability to summon additional Ghostfaces during battle.

According to NetherRealm lead QA analyst Stephanie Brownback, the other Ghostfaces aren’t secret or anonymous characters, but rather established figures from the Mortal Kombat universe. During the stream, hints were dropped that both characters hail from Kano’s Black Dragon clan, with the male character referred to as “Black Dragon Enforcer” and the female as “Black Dragon Assassin.” While these characters are on-screen, they will display hidden references and Easter eggs, and it’s up to the players to decipher their identities.

The Kombat Kast unveiled fresh updates and modifications to the character lineup, such as introducing new moves and skills for Ashrah, Smoke, Sub-Zero, and other characters. Moreover, a feature called replay takeover was spotlighted, allowing players to review a recent online match and temporarily control it to assess the situation and plan tactics for future battles.

The latest Mortal Kombat game is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers. On November 26, Ghostface will officially join the lineup of fighters, but those who have early access through either the Premium or Collector’s Editions can start playing as Ghostface (the Scream killer) a week earlier on November 19.
