NHL 25 Adds Professional Women's Hockey League This Year

As a longtime hockey enthusiast with a soft spot for women’s hockey, I couldn’t be more thrilled about EA Sports’ latest move to include the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) in NHL 25! Growing up playing street hockey with my sisters and friends, we always wished for more representation of female players in our games. Now, seeing these incredible athletes take their rightful place on the virtual ice is nothing short of heartwarming.

EA Sports has unveiled a long-term partnership with the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), enabling them to incorporate the league’s athletes and squads into NHL 25.

On December 5th, I’m thrilled to share that the PWHL is making its grand entrance into NHL 25! Among the six teams joining the league are the Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, MontrĂ©al Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres. I can hardly wait to see them all in action!

These teams are suitable for Play Now, Online Matches, Shootout, and Season modes. Uniforms from the PWHL can be found in World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team. EA cautioned that not all player resemblances will be immediately available, with more players being added progressively over time.

PWHL integration in NHL 25 also includes the Walter Cup–the PWHL’s version of the Stanley Cup.

As an avid hockey enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that NHL 25 isn’t breaking new ground by including women in its roster, as this trend started with NHL 22. That’s when EA Sports teamed up with the International Ice Hockey Federation, opening the doors for more diversity. The following year, Sarah Nurse graced the cover of NHL 23, sharing the spotlight with Trevor Zegras. It’s exciting to see progress in representation within the gaming world!

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed that EA has been inclusively expanding their sports game lineup over time. Now, you can find women players across EA Sports FC, UFC, and PGA Tour. Speaking of which, the PWHL (Professional Women’s Hockey League) is in its second season, with the Minnesota Frost taking home the inaugural Walter Cup.

As a passionate gamer diving into the world of NHL 25, I’m thrilled about EA’s upcoming holiday update for this year! One of the most electrifying additions is the debut of the NHL Arcade event series within World of Chel. Starting November 15, get ready to experience an arcade-style, fast-paced, three-on-three gameplay with a twist! This includes giant character heads and power-ups such as Supershot and Super Speed, not forgetting the variety of big and small goalies to keep us on our toes.

The setting is an unconventional ice arena without glasses or regulations. It’s not exactly like the good old NHL Hitz times, but it could scratch that lingering curiosity.

In 2025, the NHL 25 game will introduce the Four Nations Showdown. This is a tournament-style event where players from the USA, Canada, Finland, and Sweden participate in a round-robin format. There’ll be a special mode for this competition, and you can expect to see each nation’s jerseys across multiple game modes. The actual Four Nations Face-Off occurs in February 2025; so, it’s likely that the NHL 25 update will be released around the same time.

As a die-hard fan, I’m excited to share that Electronic Arts (EA) is enticing NHL 25 players like me back into the game with some irresistible freebies! From November 15 to January 2, just by logging in, you’ll receive six vanity items for the Arcade mode and an instant-redeemable special pack for the Road to 4 Nations content. Plus, you’ll get a PWHL 83 OVR team building choice pack that will become available once the PWHL integration goes live on December 5! So, mark your calendars and let’s get back to the ice!
