Bill Sammon Named SVP, Washington D.C. Editorial Content for Nexstar’s Hill, NewsNation

As a seasoned moviegoer who appreciates a good comeback story, I find myself deeply intrigued by Bill Sammon‘s journey. Much like a well-crafted plotline, his career trajectory is filled with twists and turns, each one more compelling than the last.

Previously working at Fox News and departing in 2021 amidst controversy over an early declaration of President Joe Biden’s victory in Arizona during the 2020 presidential election, Sammon has recently been enlisted to contribute to NewsNation’s coverage for the 2024 race. During this stint, he acted as a bridge between Decision Desk HQ, a voter data analysis firm that guided NewsNation in their Election Night calls, and the network itself. Notably, NewsNation was the first mainstream news network to announce former President Donald Trump’s victory.

Cherie Grzech, president of news and politics for NewsNatio, expressed her enthusiasm about welcoming Bill on board. As a highly respected journalist with an impressive background, Bill is ideally suited to manage the joint news-gathering operations of The Hill and NewsNation in Washington, D.C. We believe that Bill will greatly strengthen our team.

Sammon is set to supervise under the leadership of Grzech, a previous high-ranking news figure at Fox News, who was responsible for overseeing the network’s coverage of Washington, D.C.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled about collaborating with the exceptional journalists at Nexstar. Last week, they accurately predicted the presidential winner, beating every other news outlet – a testament to their dedication and skill in delivering precise, top-tier journalism. This week, they repeated this feat by correctly predicting the House of Representatives’ outcome ahead of any other media outlet, further demonstrating Nexstar’s unwavering commitment to accurate, high-quality news reporting.

Sammon started his journalism career working as an investigative reporter for The Plain Dealer newspaper.  In 1995, he moved to Europe to become a war correspondent for The Stars and Stripes, covering conflicts in Bosnia and Iraq. In 1997, Sammon relocated to Washington, D.C., and spent a decade as a White House correspondent for several newspapers, including The Washington Times.  Mr. Sammon has written six books on the presidency, four of which became New York Times bestsellers.
