Digital Extremes aren’t going to “ditch” Warframe: 1999 in future updates

As a long-time Warframe player, I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming 1999 update! The introduction of time travel is always a risky move, but Digital Extremes has proven time and again that they can handle it with finesse. With their knack for weaving intricate narratives and introducing the bizarre without causing chaos, I’m confident this update will be a game-changer.

In simpler terms, the creators of Warframe are planning to delve deeper into the game’s past than players have ever experienced before. They’ve verified that the impact of this update will continue to resonate in the game for quite some time.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that when time travel is introduced into any game or media, it can lead to some seriously intricate and challenging narrative paths. While Warframe has flirted with this concept before, it hasn’t fully dived into it like it plans to do in 1999. This upcoming journey could take us on a rollercoaster ride of complex time-twisting adventures!

The situation raises many uncertainties regarding its future operation within the wider context, so we sought clarity from our Community Director, Megan Everett, on exactly what we should anticipate as the enduring impact of the year 1999.

Everett shared that our team is excitedly anticipating the coming years, real years, when it comes to game development and unexplored narratives. Many of these are likely found within the Origin system since we’ve been part of it for 11 years. Players might be able to predict some of the stories we haven’t delved into yet.

Instead of abandoning a project like 1999 or Echoes of 1999, only to leave it behind, we plan to keep some aspects relevant for our future endeavors. Additionally, we aim to carry on with the Origin System’s narrative, exploring stories that remain untold within that universe.

“The game isn’t confined to just 1999; it will be a dynamic, back-and-forth experience. Dr. Entrati, or Albrecht Entrati, initially set his story in the Origin system, so we can expect to see more of his impact there. Moreover, The Man in the Wall is omnipresent throughout.

Digital Extremes aren’t going to “ditch” Warframe: 1999 in future updates

Although the specifics of this trajectory (both ahead and behind) are not entirely defined, the storyline style of 1999 might have posed significant challenges for a development team less adaptable than Digital Extremes.

Luckily, with a history of successfully incorporating the unusual and fascinating elements into the game without any mishaps, this upcoming move promises excitement instead of causing undue apprehension.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but appreciate how this latest update seamlessly carries forward the substantial narrative thread that began with earlier releases. Characters and storylines that first captured our imagination years ago still resonate strongly today, demonstrating the enduring impact they’ve had on the series.

Warframe: 1999 is set to release in December, with the exact date to be confirmed soon.
