Half-Life 2: Episode 3 Fan Version Received 10-Minute Demo. You Can Download It on Steam

As a long-time fan of the Half-Life series, I must say that the release of Project Borealis: Prologue was a delightful surprise! Growing up with Gordon Freeman and his adventures through the Combine-controlled world has been a significant part of my gaming life.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of witnessing the unveiling of Project Borealis: Prologue – a tantalizing glimpse into a fan’s ambitious endeavor to breathe life back into the narrative left incomplete by Half-Life 2: Episode Three, which was sadly never realized.

  1. You can download the prologue from Steam.
  2. The demo is 5.64 GB in size.
  3. In the Prologue, we play as Gordon Freeman, who returns to the well-known Ravenholm in winter.

The demonstration is impressively crafted, showcasing what a contemporary adaptation of the Half-Life series might visually offer. Although they’ve moved away from the Source technology, the developers have effectively recreated the ambiance and gameplay mechanics reminiscent of HL2. However, please note that it’s not a lengthy game – you can complete the prologue in approximately ten minutes.

Regrettably, there’s no set timeline for the release of the complete game version at the moment. Yet, the demo has sparked optimism in us about the possibility of the developers successfully completing and launching the game eventually.

Fan-made Half-Life 2: Episode Three

In the upcoming project titled “Project Borealis”, the narrative will mirror that of “Epistle Three”, a story penned by Marc Laidlaw in 2016 following his departure from Valve. However, since then, Valve has altered its approach to this franchise, and certain aspects seen in “Half-Life: Alyx” seem at odds with the “Epistle Three” canon. The makers of “Project Borealis: Prologue” have chosen to disregard these discrepancies. This decision seems wise, as growing evidence points towards Valve actively working on Half-Life 3 now. Consequently, this fan-made sequel will stand out distinctly from the official one.
