Is an ‘iCarly’ Movie Coming? Miranda Cosgrove Says New Project Will ‘Wrap Up’ Cliffhangers After Revival’s Cancelation

As a child of the 2000s, who grew up watching Nickelodeon shows like “iCarly” after school, this news has me all sorts of excited! I still remember the days when Carly, Spencer, and Freddie were household names. The fact that there might be an “iCarly” movie in the works is just mind-blowing.

On her recent guest spot on “The Talk,” Miranda Cosgrove shared thoughts about the possibility of an iCarly film.

The actress hinted to hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Sheryl Underwood, and Natalie Morales that, while she can’t definitively say so just yet, fans of the show should brace themselves for some exciting news as there’s a project under development.

When Morales inquired more from Cosgrove if it implied “resurrecting past hits,” Cosgrove affirmed, “Indeed, and not just that; we left the reboot hanging on a cliff, and we’ll resolve that dangling thread.

From 2007 to 2012, the initial Nickelodeon series aired over six seasons. Then, in 2020, Paramount+ revived the show for another three seasons until its recent cancellation.

As a movie enthusiast reminiscing about my favorite shows, I’d put it this way: Ten years have passed since I last saw Carly Shay (Cosgrove), and now we find ourselves revisiting her journey! This time around, she’s back with her brother Spencer (Jerry Trainer) and trusty sidekick Freddie (Nathan Kress). They embark on a mission to revive her iconic web show, encountering familiar faces from the original cast along the way, plus some fresh personalities that add an exciting twist!

Prior to the cancellation of the “iCarly” reboot, the third season kept viewers on tenterhooks with the suggestion that they might eventually learn more about Carly’s mother. Additionally, fans were excited at the prospect of seeing if Carly and Freddy would develop a romantic relationship.

In the new cast, we find Harper (played by Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter Millicent (portrayed by Jaidyn Triplett). This reboot was brought to life by Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness, with Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten serving as executive producers. Cosgrove held the role of executive producer, while Trainor and Alissa Vradenburg took on producing duties.
