‘The View’ Hosts Defend Nicole Scherzinger Against ‘Out of Control’ Backlash; Whoopi Goldberg Says ‘Relax. She Liked a Hat About Jesus. It’s Just a Hat’

As a seasoned critic who’s witnessed the evolution of Hollywood and its stars over the past few decades, I must say that this whole Nicole Scherzinger controversy feels like a tempest in a teapot. The woman simply liked a hat on Instagram, for crying out loud!

During the November 11 episode of “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts vociferously supported Nicole Scherzinger. The controversy stemmed from Scherzinger’s comment on Russell Brand’s Instagram post, which depicted Brand wearing a red hat that read “Make Jesus First Again.” Scherzinger, who is currently receiving critical acclaim for her role as Norma Desmond in “Sunset Blvd.” on Broadway, sparked this uproar on November 9.

Scherzinger asked, ‘Where can I find this hat?’ She added a prayer hand emoji and a red heart emoji to her message.

On social media, there was quick criticism aimed at Scherzinger, as Brand’s post was perceived to be supportive of Donald Trump after the U.S. election, leading people to assume that Scherzinger must also be a supporter of Trump. However, it is important to note that Scherzinger never openly endorsed any candidate or disclosed her voting preference. It’s worth mentioning that Scherzinger has always been a devoted Catholic and was raised in conservative Kentucky, as emphasized by Whoopi Goldberg during the show.

Ana Navarro expressed, “Emotions are incredibly intense right now,” when discussing the harsh online criticism directed at Scherzinger. She added, “It’s excessive. It seems like people are losing their cool. Currently, social media is a challenging environment. Even posting images of cute puppies can lead to vicious attacks. Daily, I receive thousands of messages telling me to ‘eat another burrito and return to Mexico.’ But I’m not going anywhere.

Sara Haines stated that the behavior on social media, which she referred to as “mob mentality,” is both harmful and destructive. She further expressed concern over individuals who are advocating against her nomination for a Tony Award, stating that this situation has spiraled out of proportion.

Scherzinger expressed regret during the uproar, admitting she was unaware her social media comments might be perceived as political. She said, “When I made those remarks, I failed to recognize they could be construed as having political ties. To those who drew that interpretation, I offer my sincere apologies.

Sherzinger emphasized that numerous assumptions being made don’t align with who he truly is or what he believes in, nor does it reflect his voting preference. He expressed deep concern for marginalized communities who are hurt by the outcome of the presidential election, communities he has always cared deeply about. His unwavering support for them remains as strong as ever, a commitment that has been evident throughout his life and career. If you’ve known him, you know this to be true.

Navarro expressed on “The View” that Scherzinger wasn’t required to apologize or yield to criticism since she had nothing to defend herself about. In a jovial manner, one of the co-hosts inquired: “Does this imply I can secure tickets now for the show, given it was entirely sold out?

Goldberg responded, “It’s going to stay sold out, I assure you. The actress is fantastic in the show. She simply admired a Jesus-themed hat. So, there’s no need for worry. It’s just a hat we’re talking about.

As a passionate cinephile reminiscing about the past, I can’t help but recall that during the 2008 presidential election, I was among those who cheered as I campaigned alongside the charismatic Barack Obama. Fast forward to future years, and while it remains a mystery whom I may support in 2024, I’ve made it clear in previous interviews with The Daily Mail that I identify as pro-life.
