As a movie enthusiast with over three decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say that the reveal of “Mission: Impossible 8″ title as “The Final Reckoning” has me on the edge of my seat! Having grown up watching Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt dodge bullets and scale buildings in these thrilling movies, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with anticipation.

The title of Tom Cruise’s eighth “Mission: Impossible” film has at last been disclosed, accompanied by the debut trailer as well.

Title change! “The Final Reckoning” is now what we’re calling “Mission: Impossible 8,” which used to be the sequel to 2023’s “Dead Reckoning – Part Two.” Set for release on May 23, 2025. In “Dead Reckoning,” I, as Ethan Hunt, find myself pitted against a formidable adversary – an AI program called The Entity – which appears to read my mind, anticipating my actions and posing a significant threat if it should fall into the wrong hands. After narrowly surviving a catastrophic train wreck in the movie’s climax, I come to the realization that The Entity is concealed aboard an antiquated Russian submarine. However, I am not alone in my pursuit; an old enemy from my past named Gabriel (Esai Morales) is hot on my trail as well.

In the upcoming movie, Morales will rejoin the cast alongside Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga, and Indira Varma. To this ensemble, we can add several new faces to the franchise: Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman, and Tramell Tillman.

Once again, Christopher McQuarrie takes the director’s chair and contributes to the script, following his work on “Rogue Nation,” “Fallout,” and “Dead Reckoning.” Previously, he has partnered with Cruise in the “Jack Reacher” series and “Top Gun: Maverick.” The screenplay is penned by McQuarrie, Bruce Geller, and Erik Jendresen. Alongside Cruise, McQuarrie also assumes the role of producer. Chris Brock, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Tommy Gormley, Don Granger, Susan Novick serve as executive producers, with Gina Hallas acting as co-producer.
