As a lifelong lover of heartwarming holiday tales and soulful tunes, hearing about James Vaughan’s Christmas singles debut on Hallmark’s Christmas Cruise is like finding the perfect stocking stuffer under my virtual tree! The fact that his husband, the dashing Jonathan Bennett, played host to this magical event makes it even more enchanting.
On November 8th, I had the privilege of witnessing James Vaughan unveil two fresh holiday tunes during Hallmark’s first Christmas Cruise onboard the Norwegian Gem. As it turns out, this talented singer is married to none other than Jonathan Bennett, a renowned actor and producer from Hallmark, who also graciously hosted this inaugural voyage. What an enchanting experience it was!
On the last night of the cruise, Vaughan sang “It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas” and “Home for the Holiday”, while Bennett, Tyler Hynes, Brooke D’Orsay, Ashley Williams, Will Kemp, B.J. Britt, Heather Hemmens, Kristoffer Polaha, Rachel Boston, Brendan Penny, and Hunter King danced in unison on stage behind him.
Following the show, it was revealed that “Home for the Holiday” is scheduled to appear in “Season’s Greetings from Cherry Lane,” which will be broadcast on Hallmark+ on December 5th.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to be part of the ensemble cast for the upcoming movie “Cherry Lane,” alongside Annabelle Bourke, Corey Cott, Sarah Dugdale, Shannon Kook, and Vincent Rodriguez III. This film is one of three sequels that revisit 7 Cherry Lane, offering a captivating glimpse into various families who have resided there over the span of seven decades. Each segment focuses on different time periods in this historic home’s history.
“For me, Christmas time and Hallmark Channel movies evoke the same feelings. They’re both hopeful, they’re both positive and for me they’re both a happy ending that you can count on,” Vaughan told EbMaster while on board. “To get to have a song I sing be a part of that is really magical.”
Two out of the total four tracks on his forthcoming EP titled “Feels Like Christmas” are penned by him, and this holiday-themed collection is set for release on November 12th, a Tuesday. He collaborated in writing the EP with Mark Vogel.
Vaughan shared his intention behind composing Christmas tunes; he aimed to produce immediately recognizable seasonal melodies that would bring joy as they progressed. All the tracks are original compositions, crafted to embody his personal interpretation of festive music. In essence, these songs are designed for lively holiday dancing in your living room, and he takes great pride in them.
