Bendy Movie: Crossover with Indie Games Is 'Unlikely,' Creators Say

As a long-time fan of indie games and Bendy & the Ink Machine, I must say I’m both relieved and slightly disappointed by TheMeatly’s recent update on the Bendy movie. Relieved because I appreciate his dedication to preserving the unique identity and dark lore of the Bendy universe, and slightly disappointed that we won’t be getting an epic crossover film with our favorite indie game characters any time soon.

According to the latest news from TheMeatly, the creator of Bendy and the Ink Machine, it seems quite improbable that there will be a collaboration between indie games in the forthcoming Bendy movie.

According to a recent update by TheMeatly, it seems quite improbable that we’ll see a movie featuring characters from different independent video games co-existing.

Speculation about a potential collaboration started circulating following TheMeatly’s humorous response to the Hello Neighbor movie announcement. He suggested that if the Tattletail and Baldi movies were produced, they could combine for an extraordinary, Avengers-style joint production.

Frankly speaking, it’s quite uncommon for an ‘indie game crossover film’ to occur. The primary reason is that each game has its unique lore which doesn’t easily merge with other universes without diluting the original stories. Additionally, the upcoming BENDYMOVIE isn’t aimed at producing a “mascot horror movie” as part of a series or franchise, but rather maintaining its individuality and uniqueness.

Instead of combining Bendy with other franchises for a crossover, TheMeatly prefers to maintain its distinctive character and dark backstory. This is because he doesn’t want Bendy to be part of the trend of mascot-themed horror films. Furthermore, he believes that merging different horror universes could dilute the individual narratives and diminish their unique charm.

In the article, he further expressed his aspirations and ideas for the film, such as it being primarily designed for mature audiences. The aim behind the Bendy movie, according to him, is to produce a “classic horror film” that accurately reflects the essence of the games – where “animated terrors transition into real-life action.” Previously, TheMeatly has shared his intention to combine live-action and CGI to narrate the tale of Bendy and The Ink Machine.

Currently, there are no plans for the Bendy movie to be part of a larger indie game crossover during its initial release in cinemas. The director André Øvredal has been announced to helm the Bendy and the Ink Machine movie, making it intriguing to observe how his directing style shapes this franchise.
