As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the trenches of Modern Warfare and Black Ops series, I must say, this Season 1 update for Warzone has left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I’m thrilled about the integration of MW2 and MW3 weapons and the return of Urzikstan. It’s like stepping into a nostalgic time machine!
As a gaming enthusiast, I was hyped up thinking that Urzikstan would be the latest addition when Warzone merges with Black Ops Cold War. However, it seems things aren’t quite as straightforward as I had anticipated.
Starting from November 14th, as part of the Season 1 update for Warzone in Black Ops 6, a fresh chapter commences. This includes an array of weapons from MW2 and MW3, in addition to all weapons in Black Ops 6, totalling 177 weapons at your disposal.
A fresh array of Perk, Scorestreak, Field Upgrade selections, along with the mobility feature Omnimovement, will be introduced at launch. Initially, Area 99 and Rebirth Island are accessible as Resurgence maps, while Urzikstan reappears as the sole standard battle royale map.
In Modern Warfare 3, Urzikstan went through multiple upgrades, introducing fresh locales and elements. Regrettably, what you’ll find in Black Ops 6 is not expected to resemble this.
Activision revealed that due to the complex process of incorporating Omnimovement and other innovations for Black Ops 6, this version of Urzikstan is similar to how it appeared during Modern Warfare III’s earlier seasons. This means the Popov Power plant remains intact, and there are no bunker access or Atlas Superstore at Al-Sada Village yet.
Fan-favorites may find it disheartening that Atlas Superstore, newly added to the Season 5 update in July, won’t be making an appearance. This renowned Point of Interest (POI) was a go-to landing spot on the original Verdansk map and gained significant popularity among players.
To such an extent, the development team crafted a separate, dedicated experience called “Superstore Resurgence” specifically for Points of Interest (POIs).
Critics have been voicing their disapproval towards the Warzone development team, claiming they’re overemphasizing Resurgence updates while neglecting major map updates. This fresh development undeniably does little to improve that perception.
At least for the enthusiasts of Urzikstan, there’s something exciting to anticipate: the debut of Warzone Ranked during Season 1 Reloaded. This is the first time a ranked play mode has been introduced in the traditional battle royale setting since Modern Warfare 2 back in 2023.
