As a long-time subscriber of YouTube Premium, I find myself grappling with a wave of disbelief and disappointment upon receiving the news of yet another price hike. Having been a loyal customer for years, I’ve watched my monthly expenditure gradually inflate like a balloon on steroids.
Users are expressing frustration over the increase in YouTube’s Premium subscription fee, claiming that it’s too expensive for their budget.
Starting from November 7, users started receiving notices that their YouTube Premium subscription costs will be raised a month later, specifically on December 7.
A screenshot posted on Reddit demonstrated an increase in the price, which will go up from £16.99 (approximately $22 USD) to £25.99 (around $33.70 USD).
These prices are getting insane…

It was disclosed that the cost will increase from €22.99 (approximately $24.80 USD) to €36.99 (around $40 USD), which equates to approximately $500 per year for a YouTube Premium subscription.
“These prices are getting insane,” an upset subscriber moaned.
Apparently, they’ve stepped out of touch with what’s real,” was another person’s reaction. “It’s quite disheartening.
“Are they nuts?” blasted another.
The commenter suggested to cancel the subscription, promising it would be appreciated later due to the mentioned rise in price by 9 euros.
I’m actually offended by this. Sad stuff.

It was observed that the source of the notification was Apple, and since they take approximately 30% of every purchase, this might account for the substantial increase in costs.
Recently, Twitch experienced a comparable issue when Tier 1 subscriptions were increased to $7.99 on mobile platforms, causing displeasure among its users.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed a hike in the price tag recently, and I believe it’s connected to YouTube’s experiment with a more affordable, stripped-down version of their Premium service. The twist is that this “light” edition doesn’t offer all the fancy perks of the regular subscription, but it does mean fewer ads compared to the ad-filled experience you get with no plan at all.
In October, we initiated an investigation following user complaints about persisting ads despite having upgraded to a Premium subscription and parting with their earned money.
1) The platform owned by Google has persisted in its efforts to combat adblockers, targeting third-party applications like YouTube ReVanced. In fact, the site introduced a tool aimed at permanently disabling adblockers.
