As a seasoned adventurer who’s weathered the storms of countless games, I must say Mirthwood has left me both spellbound and bewildered. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill farming simulator; it’s a rollercoaster ride with its own set of challenges that’ll test your mettle.
Welcome to Mirthwood! Unlike tranquil farming simulators such as Stardew Valley or Fields of Mistria, this game offers a more challenging and sometimes scary experience. Due to its complexity, it might be tough getting started, so we’ve compiled some helpful tips for your initial hours in the game to make your journey smoother.
Mirthwood Guide, Tips and Tricks for Beginners
- Money – one of the biggest problems at the beginning of the game is money. We have prepared a separate guide to it. However, you should sell pelts and copper bars.
- Iron – this resource can be found on the northern and southern edge of the map. Read our separate guide to learn more.
- Powerful enemies – you will encounter some dangerous and scarry enemies in the game. If they are stronger than you, just run to the closest settlement. Even if monsters will not stop chasing after you, they will be killed by friendly NPCs.
- Opponents are persistent – enemies in Mirthwood can run after you for a long time, specially monsters. However, if you lose them, be prepared that they will stay in the spot where you left them. Even if it is your camp.
- Camps – there are camps in the regions. They offer a bed and fire to cook. You can also teleport between them. The game will let you know when you encounter one.
- Food – have something to eat in your backpack, always. If you die, you will lose a portion of your money. It is painful at the beginning. Moreover, cook your meals, as they will saturate you more that way.
- Feathers – there is a hut east of the city. A person living there will exchange Feathers into skill slots and equipment space.
- Move during combat – it is a good idea to move a lot during fights. Try to get behind you opponents. If you are lucky, you will be able to land some hits to their backs.
