CS2 Fans Get Excited by Image of Asphalt & We Can't Blame Them

As a seasoned Counter-Strike fan who’s been playing since the original BETA days back in 1999, I can hardly contain my excitement about the potential return of de_train! It feels like revisiting an old friend after all these years. The subtle hints from Valve and the findings by dataminers have got me buzzing with anticipation.

In typical Valve style, the developer subtly hinted at the comeback of the renowned Train map, without an official announcement. This was done by updating their CS2 account on X (Twitter) with a captivating image of pristine asphalt, which has sparked excitement among Counter-Strike 2 esports enthusiasts.

It’s not their fault, given that the design of the train map dates back nearly 25 years to the initial release of Counter-Strike Beta 5.0 on December 30, 1999.

As a gaming enthusiast keeping tabs on every Valve game update, I was one of the first to catch the shift in the banner and suspect it might be another tease from Train. My account, dedicated to sharing the latest news, leaks, and rumors about these games, especially CS2, is always on the lookout for such hints.

Looks like devs have started teasing Train remake.

Among the original Counter-Strike maps, only the Train map hasn’t been redesigned using Source 2 yet. Over the past few months, evidence hinting at Valve adding files related to the Train map has surfaced.

Enthusiasts are expressing their eagerness and ideas about Gabe Follower’s post on Twitter, while producers of content are also hopping onto the trend.

I’ve checked with some of my sources but could not confirm any release date or even a launch window for Train or Cobblestone. However, I will keep my ear to the ground and let our readers know as soon as information becomes available. Wouldn’t it be grand if Train gets released in CS2 during December, coinciding with it’s 25-year anniversary? I’ll leave that for you to decide…
