Japanese YouTuber charged with attempted murder after stabbing rival with scissors

As a long-time observer of the digital content sphere, I find myself utterly dismayed and saddened by the escalating violence that seems to be a growing trend among some YouTubers. The recent incident involving Megumi Mizuguchi and Hisashi Inamura in Japan is yet another tragic example of this disturbing pattern.

A YouTube personality from Japan was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to take another person’s life, following an incident where she allegedly attacked her competitor with a pair of scissors and inflicted a wound on her neck.

The dispute between Megumi Mizuguchi, aged 37, and Hisashi Inamura, who is 40, culminated in a sea of bitterness on Halloween night as the former was implored by the latter to summon an ambulance.

Mizuguchi and Inamura have allegedly been trading barbs on social media platforms and airing each other’s controversies in YouTube content.

As reported by Gendai, they frequently had disagreements and joked about them, but matters escalated when Inamura targeted Mizuguchi’s family, making the conflicts more intense and emotional.

Angered severely, it’s said that Mizuguchi forcefully entered his rival’s residence. Later, he is accused of attacking him with a pair of scissors, stabbing him in the neck, and capturing the encounter on video. This footage was then reportedly shared with acquaintances.

When Inamura was bleeding, it’s said that he pleaded with his assailant to summon an ambulance, but she refused. Instead, she taunted him, saying cruelly, “I’ll simply watch as you expire.

One friend who saw the attack video later remembered phoning Mizuguchi, suggesting she dial emergency services for help.

During the whole discussion, she spoke in a nonsensical manner, at times declaring ‘I’m wrecking their phone,’ and menacingly warning the victim with ‘You should die! Those like you shouldn’t exist!’

In the end, law enforcement officers showed up at the location, resulting in the arrest of Mizuguchi despite her claim that she did not intend to harm her competitor. Thankfully, Inamura sustained non-critical injuries.

It’s not unheard of for conflicts on YouTube to escalate to such extremes as violence leading to death. Just recently, a South Korean video producer is said to have been murdered by a fellow YouTube creator during a live broadcast, outside a courthouse in Busan.

The individual was discovered in a critical heart condition and rushed to the hospital, where they were sadly confirmed deceased. Over the past three years, they had been embroiled in a long-running series of lawsuits due to mutual verbal and physical attacks.
