As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of collecting and trading Pokémon cards under my belt, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about the “Bent Corner” theory floating around the Pokemon TCG Pocket community. However, after diving into this intriguing phenomenon myself, I can confidently say that while it may not be a guaranteed ticket to rare cards, there seems to be some merit to the claim.
“The Bent Corner Hypothesis” of Pokemon TCG Pocket: Players have speculated an unusual pattern in the trading card packs, implying that packs with a slight bend at the top when rotated to the right might yield rarer, desirable cards more frequently.
Here’s one way to rephrase the given sentence in easy-to-read language: “If you’re shuffling your Pokémon deck, please hold on for a moment. Take a look at the upper right corner of the deck when it’s laid flat. If you spot any cards bent there, there might be a rare card hidden inside!” #PokemonTCG #PokemonPocket #PokemonTCGPocket #PTCGP @PokemonTCG

It’s true that some individuals claim to have found valuable cards from the packages with crooked edges, but not everyone has experienced such fortune. It appears that not every bent corner package necessarily contains a rare card, implying that the good pulls might be due to random chance when it comes to these unique packs. However, it’s also possible that bent corner packs may offer a higher probability – though not a certainty – of containing rare cards.
The bent corner thing is false. It’s not a GUARANTEE you’ll get hits. Just like everything else, it’s RNG#Pokemon#PokemonTCGPocket#PokemonTCG

Tried twice. Both bent packs failed.

In order to examine the ‘bent corner theory’, we unsealed 20 packs from the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket collection. Out of these, 10 packs had a bent corner, and the remaining 10 did not. Interestingly, 6 of the bent packs contained a rare card, as opposed to only 5 of the non-bent packs. This seems to imply that bent packs may not be significantly more likely to contain a rare card; however, further investigation with a larger sample size might yield different findings.
At present, the game developers have neither supported nor dismissed the ‘bent corner theory’. Given that the element of surprise is a key aspect that keeps players engaged, it’s quite possible they won’t comment on it. Our preliminary tests didn’t find bent packs to significantly increase the chances of getting those sought-after EX cards. However, since individual experiences may differ, you might want to experiment with the debatable theory to see if it holds true for you.
