Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake screenshots show new storyline scenarios, dungeons, and more

Square Enix has revealed more about the upcoming Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, including new story content and dungeons added to the original Dragon Quest. While a recent trailer gave a sneak peek at these changes, Square Enix is now sharing the full details on how the first Dragon Quest game has been enhanced.

A key addition to the game is Rubiss, a character well-known from *Dragon Quest III* (and its HD-2D Remake), who only had a small role in earlier versions of *Dragon Quest I*. The update also introduces more characters to the story, including Tantegel soldiers, fairies, and dwarves.

The updated version of *Dragon Quest I*, featuring HD-2D graphics, adds brand new dungeons and special battles you’ll encounter as you explore the world.

The remastered versions of Dragon Quest I & II, featuring updated HD-2D graphics, will be available starting October 30th on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

The HD-2D Remake of Dragon Quest I & II expands the story of the Erdrick Trilogy with new scenarios. In the first game, you’ll need to find Rubiss, a character who also appears in Dragon Quest III, to save the world from darkness. Look for the faeries, who are closely linked to Rubiss, and try to summon her for help!
