As a die-hard fan of card games, I’ve been eagerly waiting for something new and exciting to come along since Hearthstone’s golden era started fading. When Battlegrounds came out, it was a breath of fresh air, but unfortunately, it hasn’t lived up to its potential due to bugs and neglect from the creators.
After the peak of Hearthstone’s golden age had faded, Blizzard raised the stakes by introducing an auto battler component called Battlegrounds. Unfortunately, despite being launched several years ago, this mode is currently in a less-than-ideal state, marred by issues left unresolved and buggy elements. A well-known streamer, Reynad, took matters into his own hands and established Tempo Storm studio to develop a new card game – The Bazaar. Production on this game was announced 6 years ago, and now it’s available in closed beta. If you’re interested in trying it out, here’s what you need to know about gaining access and the expected release date.
The Bazaar closed beta explained
The beta testing phase for The Bazaar began on October 30th, 2024, but don’t let that discourage you from joining. In fact, there’s still an opportunity for you to get in. At the moment, to start playing, you need to purchase a founder pack directly from the game’s official website. There are three tiers of founder packs available.
- Tier 1 – costs $33. Gives access to closed beta to you and one extra for a friend alongside some in-game cosmetics.
- Tier 2 – worth $66. Includes the previous tier rewards and provides even more digital goods to show off.
- Tier 3 – 99$ priced package, which consists of both previous tiers, additional cosmetics, but also offers a physical vinyl with The Bazaar’s OST for the first 5000 backers (the price does not include shipping costs, though).
To secure your spot for the early access phase, you can either purchase the entry-level founder’s pack or acquire it through a friend. Keep in mind that this opportunity extends until December 2024, although the specific launch date remains undisclosed as of now.
Roadmap of The Bazaar
If you’re willing to wait, you might have a chance to explore The Bazaar without any cost sometime in December since it’s expected to launch open beta then. However, it’s important to note that once the closed beta concludes, access will become more widespread, though exact details are still somewhat unclear due to the vagueness of the official post on X.
According to the developers’ announcements, it appears that neither testing phases will take too much time, and we might get our hands on the complete game version as early as January 2025. They also mentioned that the game would be accessible through a free-to-play model, offering an opportunity for everyone to dive into the chaos of The Bazaar.
We can only cross our fingers and anticipate that these upcoming tests will iron out any lingering issues within the current edition of this game. In turn, if everything goes well, we might just witness the emergence of a new game that could surpass Hearthstone’s popularity.
