As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for delving into the intricacies of TV executives’ careers, I can’t help but be impressed by Stacy Fung’s journey. Her ability to navigate the vast and dynamic world of streaming services, from Netflix to Amazon MGM Studios, is truly commendable.
According to our exclusive sources, esteemed television executive Stacy Fung has been brought on board by Amazon’s drama series unit, MGM Studios.
In her elevated position, Fung will join the team under Odetta Watkins, who heads the drama department for continuous series at Amazon MGM Studios. This team oversees both new and returning Amazon series, including “Reacher,” “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “The Terminal List,” “Cross,” and others. Watkins is supervised by Laura Lancaster, who leads co-produced television and ongoing series.
Fung recently moved from MRC’s TV division, where she has been since 2020, to Amazon MGM Studios. At MRC, she held the position of executive vice president and head of current, overseeing shows like “The Terminal List” and its upcoming spinoff “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.” Her responsibilities also included managing series such as “The Great” on Hulu, as well as both “Poker Face” and “Ted” on Peacock.
Prior to joining MRC, Fung held a position as the Director of International Originals at Netflix. In this capacity, she concentrated on creating content in local languages, with projects specifically targeted towards the Brazilian region.
Previously, Fung spent eight years with Universal Content Productions (UCP). Her position as Vice President of Current Programming saw her contribute to popular shows such as “Homecoming” on Prime Video, “The Umbrella Academy” on Netflix, the Emmy-winning “Mr. Robot” on USA Network, and Syfy’s adaptation of “12 Monkeys.” Earlier in her career, she served as Director of Development and Current Programming at Regency Television.
