As a seasoned Astro Bot player with countless hours spent navigating through the vibrant and challenging worlds of this enchanting platformer, I couldn’t be more thrilled to dive back into the action with the latest speedrun challenge, Spring-loaded Run. Having been hooked since its initial release in 2018, I’ve eagerly awaited each new update and content drop, and this one is no exception.

Announcement to all Speedrunners: The popular platformer game Astro Bot has just received new content! As promised by Team Asobi in September 2024, a fresh speedrun challenge is now available. This latest addition includes new Special Bots and stages, marking the third speedrun challenge for the game. The Spring-loaded Run level is the newest addition to the platformer, inviting players to test their skills and compete with their friends online.

As a thrilled Astro Bot fan, I’m excited to share that a fresh speedrun challenge is now open to all of us! This exhilarating opportunity is absolutely free and it’s designed to test our platforming prowess even further. The competition is fueled by an online leaderboard, offering a motivating race against fellow players. The developers have kindly provided instructions on how we can unlock these speedrunning levels, ensuring we’ve completed the base game first.

As a gamer, I’ve just learned that the Spring-loaded Run speedrun level is now live in Astro Bot! To join this thrilling challenge, make sure you’ve updated the base game and completed the main story first. You can find this level by navigating to the stopwatch-shaped nebula, which is nestled next to the final boss level, the Gorilla Nebula. Let’s see who’s got what it takes!

Similar to how we’ve been introducing Special Bots in our weekly speedrun challenges, there are more to unlock. As of now, we can’t reveal which Bots will be available, as we want to keep things surprising (to avoid spoilers). However, we have confirmed that characters from Helldivers 2 and Stellar Blade will join the game, and it’s up to you to discover and unlock them. The developer is keeping quiet about which other characters might appear in the upcoming speedrun challenge levels.

Additionally, it’s been announced that there will be two new speedrun challenge levels added to Astro Bot in the near future. According to a recent post on the PlayStation Blog, these levels are scheduled to release every Thursday at 6 am Pacific Time / 9 am Eastern Time / 2 pm British Summer Time / 10 pm Japan Standard Time. Specifically, “Helium Heights” will be available on November 7th, 2024, and “Rising Heat” will follow on November 14th, 2024. With these additions, a total of five speedrun levels will have been released for Astro Bot.
