As a seasoned pirate who has weathered many a storm and navigated the treacherous Sea of Thieves for years, I must say that Rare’s recent hotfix has brought a welcome breath of fresh air to our swashbuckling adventures. After the unexpected server downtime, it was a relief to see the servers back online, especially with the accompanying patch notes.
On the Sea of Thieves, pirates found their eerie activities temporarily halted as the game’s creators, Rare, unexpectedly took the servers offline for necessary upkeep. Through their social media platforms, Rare announced a maintenance period was underway, and it didn’t take long before the servers resumed service along with update details.
In the latest update for Pirates of Mischief Season 14, the devs brought back some sneaky features we gamers had missed since the beginning. Plus, they tackled weapon woes pirates were facing, squashed a few seasonal content bugs, and even added some nifty gameplay tweaks to make sailing smoother. So, here’s to Grog, let’s set sail and enjoy the improvements!
The recent update for Sea of Thieves has once again enabled the Crouch function, which was temporarily disabled to prevent major issues and allow the team to enhance the game’s overall quality before Season 14 launch. Now, players can crouch to move stealthily and ambush enemy pirates on their ships. In addition, Rare made some tweaks to the crouching mechanic to ensure smoother movement.
The Sea of Thieves game servers are temporarily shutting down for necessary upgrades. Enjoy some rum and play your favorite tunes; we’ll signal when it’s time to hoist the anchor once more!

The changes and enhancements made to the mechanic are highlighted, particularly addressing instances where the character attempts to squat after being shot from cannons, prior to jumping into them, as well as when falling from considerable heights. Furthermore, there have been some tweaks and improvements for the Grapple Gun, a weapon introduced in Sea of Thieves during Season 14. Initially, many pirates encountered problems with it upon the season’s debut.
The changes made to the Grapple Gun address situations where pirates attempted to attach themselves to an object while climbing into a cannon, only to find the object has been placed back on the ground. However, this doesn’t affect pirates who manage to grab it before being fired from the cannon. Furthermore, pirates attempting to use the Grapple Gun to grab other players will discover that they won’t be sent flying across the sea anymore.
In much the same way, Rare enhanced the game’s performance and stability to minimize instances where players might suddenly leave the game or lose connection during their gaming session. Moreover, they have acknowledged some existing issues that were discovered through testing or player reports, which will be resolved in a future hotfix or patch update for Sea of Thieves.
