‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Trailer: Player 456 Returns to Bloody Battleground as New Players Fight for Grand Prize

The intrigue of the first season was not just about survival, but also about the human condition, the struggle between life and death, and the unmasking of the hidden forces controlling our lives.


Netflix has dropped a new teaser trailer for “Squid Game” Season 2.

At the Lucca Comics & Games event in Europe, the series’ trailer was unveiled. Stars Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-jun made an appearance on stage, along with the show’s creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk.

In the new season, character Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456 (portrayed by Lee), returns to the Squid Game having won at the end of Season 1. Equipped with an understanding of the game’s true nature, he aims to rescue other players and persuade them to quit the game permanently, thus ending it for good.

The second season of “Squid Game” is set to premiere on Netflix on December 26th. Besides Lee and Wi, Lee Byung-hun reappears as the enigmatic Leader who oversees the operation of the deadly competition.

Hwang is responsible for developing the show, taking on roles as both director and executive producer. Additionally, Kim Ji-yeon is involved as an executive producer, and it’s Firstman Studio that is producing this series.

Previously, it was revealed that the popular series “Squid Game” is set to return for its third and final season. This highly-anticipated show initially debuted in 2021 and broke records as the most-watched program on Netflix. As of now, it has been watched for over 2.2 billion hours, which translates to approximately 265 million views according to Netflix’s all-time top TV rankings.

Season 1 of this show was additionally recognized with 17 Emmy nominations. It ended up taking home six awards, among them one for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, which went to Lee, and another for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, which was awarded to Lee You-mi.
