As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been nothing short of spectacular. The sheer scale of its success is mind-boggling, setting new records for player numbers, hours played, and matches. It’s like watching a freight train barreling down the track, and it shows no signs of slowing!
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 made a massive splash on October 25, shattering previous records with its incredible debut! This game claimed the “most significant” three-day opening weekend in the franchise’s history when considering the sheer number of players, hours played, and matches.
During an earnings discussion, Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, announced that the launch of Black Ops 6 on October 25th broke a record for Game Pass subscriber sign-ups in a single day, but he didn’t provide an exact number. Later, he stated that sales for Black Ops 6 on PlayStation and Steam increased more than 60% compared to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III from the year 2023.
2023 saw Modern Warfare III as the second highest-selling video game overall in the U.S., with Hogwarts Legacy claiming the top spot. It’s intriguing to predict how Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will perform when it comes to sales, though a direct comparison might not be entirely accurate, since many gamers may opt to play Black Ops 6 via Game Pass without purchasing the game outright.
Appreciation to the #CallOfDuty community for turning the debut of #BlackOps6 into an unforgettable event, breaking both day-one and opening weekend sales records! 🎉

It was anticipated that large sales figures would be seen for Black Ops 6 before its release. The Black Ops franchise enjoys significant popularity, and the fact that it became available on Game Pass, a topic of frequent conversation, appears to have been beneficial for Microsoft in the initial phase.
Previously, Strauss Zelnick, head honcho at Take-Two, predicted that Call of Duty would temporarily boost Game Pass subscribers for Microsoft. To him, chucking a blockbuster title into a subscription service seems fishy and misses out on potential sales – a squandered opportunity, if you will. Now, ol’ Zelnick is the boss of a third-party publisher, so his perspective might not align perfectly with Microsoft’s game plan.
According to analyst Michael Pachter, if Microsoft adds Black Ops 6 to their Game Pass service, they might lose up to six million in sales from players who would have purchased it otherwise. However, Pachter suggests that Microsoft could gain as many as four million new Game Pass subscribers due to the popularity of Black Ops 6.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement as Black Ops 6 unveils a new chapter starting this week! On November 1st, we’ll be diving back into the iconic Nuketown multiplayer map – a long-awaited addition to the game. Fast forward to November 14th, and the real adventure begins with the start of Black Ops 6 Season 1. This update also brings us a fresh experience with Call of Duty: Warzone’s latest offering, Area 99. Can’t wait to jump in!
