Fairy Tail 2 provides a taste of its rendition of the Alvarez Empire Arc in the Opening Movie

As a seasoned fan of the Fairy Tail series since its humble beginnings in 2006, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia upon witnessing the opening movie for Fairy Tail 2. The Alvarez Empire Arc has always been one of my favorite story arcs, and seeing it brought to life in this stunning new game is truly a dream come true.

On December 11 (Steam) and December 13 (PS5, PS4, & Switch), Gust and Koei Tecmo will unveil a pre-release opening movie for Fairy Tail 2. This sneak peek offers glimpses into the game’s portrayal of the Alvarez Empire Arc‘s climactic scenes, providing an exciting foretaste of what’s to come.

In Fairy Tail 2, the Alvarez Empire Storyline spans across the initial twelve primary chapters. Upon completing this epic tale, gamers can explore a fresh, original storyline titled “Key to the Unknown”. This intriguing narrative expands into four captivating chapters, offering a delightful blend of heartfelt and humorous themes as players take a break from the climax of the Alvarez Empire Arc.

Starting today, Koei Tecmo Europe in partnership with developer Gust has made available digital pre-orders for their forthcoming action RPG titled Fairy Tail 2. As a token of appreciation to fans, they can now access the opening movie of the game and fresh details about its unique narrative called “Key to the Unknown”. The upcoming title is a sequel to Koei Tecmo’s 2020 release, Fairy Tail 2. It will be launched on December 13th, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Nintendo Switch. For PC gamers, it will become available a day earlier on December 12th, 2024 via Steam.
In the freshly premiered prologue, fans will catch a sneak peek into the Alvarez Empire Arc storyline set for Fairy Tail 2. This film presents characters from the Fairy Tail guild engaging in combat against Emperor Spriggan Zeref, his powerful elite group, the Spriggan 12, and the Black Dragon Acnologia. Notably, it references iconic moments from the initial anime and comic book series as a tribute.
Following the conclusion of the primary twelve tales, enthusiasts can delve into an entirely novel narrative titled “Key to the Unknown”. This fresh chapter offers players entry into new, exclusive realms. The story encompasses themes that range from heartwarming to humorous, and will guide players on journeys alongside Natsu, Lucy, and their companions. By becoming a part of the Fairy Tail guild, you’ll embark on various missions including locating a secret gem in a restaurant hidden within a western forest, deciding the midsummer champion at “Akane Beach” in the south, and meeting an assortment of unforeseen characters. Fans will traverse both familiar locations from the anime and manga, as well as new destinations unique to Fairy Tail 2.
Players can preserve their exciting journeys by snapping pictures of their favorite characters and scenes using the Photo Mode feature. Those who digitally pre-purchase the game on or before 6th January 2025 will get the “Natsu of Edolas” bonus costume for Natsu character as an added benefit.
Besides the regular version, enthusiasts have the opportunity to pre-purchase two unique collector’s editions: the “Fairy Tail 2 Guild Pack” containing the main game, an exclusive B2-sized cloth poster with original artwork, a special issue of Sorcerer Magazine mimicking the release edition Vol.2 from the initial Fairy Tail game, three types of shikishi with holographic finish, and an original soundtrack CD. Additionally, fans can pre-order the “Fairy Tail 2 Combination Set,” which includes all items in the Guild Pack, a special illustrated canvas art autographed by Hiro Mashima, and a B2-sized tapestry showcasing artwork personally chosen by Hiro Mashima.
