As a long-time anime enthusiast with a soft spot for quirky and intriguing characters, I must say that Turbo Granny from Dandadan has left quite an impression on me! Her unique blend of menace and maternal care, coupled with her lightning-fast speed, make her a truly captivating antagonist.
In the animated series “Dandadan,” the initial storyline reached its conclusion, with Grandma Turbo serving as the main villain. Let me recap the events that transpired for her:
Dandadan has made a remarkable debut this fall season, quickly becoming one of the most beloved anime productions of the year. With its quirky visuals, intriguing characters, and unique combination of suspenseful and humorous plotlines, it’s captured the hearts of anime enthusiasts everywhere.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve just dived into the captivating world of Dandadan! The first arc, “Turbo Granny Arc,” sets the stage by introducing two pivotal characters – Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura. But it doesn’t stop there; we also get to know Momo’s family, including her feisty grandmother, Seiko Ayase, and a unique character known as Turbo Granny!
Though I’ve been outshone by Momo and Okarun in our recent encounters, my tale doesn’t end here. Instead, I’ll be taking on a new role as a supporting character, but trust me, it won’t be the conventional one you’re thinking of!
Who is Turbo Granny in Dandadan?
Turbo Granny is a well-known Yokai in the world of Dandadan.
Prior to encountering Momo and Okarun, she resided within a tunnel situated in Shono City. Known as “Turbo Granny” due to her incredible speed, able to run 100 km/hr, she also took time while exploring to soothe the troubled souls of young girls who had been tragically killed inside that very tunnel.
She’d also swear at anyone venturing into the tunnel, threatening to take their reproductive parts. But upon hearing Okarun’s signal that Momo was under threat, she abandoned her domain. Using her teleportation abilities through a cell phone, she confronted the aliens who had seized Momo and attacked them.
What happened to Turbo Granny?
Turbo Granny’s powers are sealed in Okarun and Seiko transfers her consciousness in a stuffed doll.
The sole strategy for overcoming Turbo Granny is by outpacing her. Eventually, Okarun and Momo managed to deceive her into stumbling, and then Momo employed her psychic powers to re-educate Turbo Granny, ultimately freeing both her and the Earthbound Spirit Crab from their possession.
Originally, Okarun believed he had restored his reproductive system, but it seemed he was still lacking two critical components, his kintama. Seiko and Momo employed their special abilities to extract Turbo Granny’s consciousness from within Okarun. The ancient yokai confessed that she had infiltrated Okarun’s body with the intention of exacting her revenge. For now, she needed a respite to replenish her energy.
Okarun requests the return of his precious trinkets, known as kintama, from Turbo Granny. However, during an amusing questioning, she admits that she’s misplaced them. For the time being, she’ll continue to appear in her feline form, playing a significant role as a supporting character in future events.
