As a seasoned movie-goer with a penchant for unconventional narratives and a soft spot for Daniel Craig’s enigmatic charm, I found myself captivated by the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s latest offering, “Queer.” The sweaty spectacle that is Craig in this film has me questioning if he’s been dipped in a vat of liquid perspiration between takes!
In the trailer for the film “Queer”, Daniel Craig appears to be exceptionally sweaty, a sight that might make Troye Sivan embarrassed. There’s an unending sheen about him. The trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s new movie was released on October 29, and it could be noted for its suggestion of explicit gay scenes, or how the age gap may worry fans of “Call Me by Your Name”, or how beautiful it looks. However, what stands out most is the contrast between Craig’s sweaty appearance alongside his co-star Drew Starkey who appears very dry. We can only speculate that this was done intentionally – as reports from film festivals suggest, the movie seems to be more drug-centric than the trailer indicates – to highlight a certain distinction between the older and younger characters. The older character seems affected by the heat of Mexico City while the younger one remains dry. But we wonder, how did they make Craig so sweaty? Was he sprayed before each take? Is it some form of permanent sweat made from silica gel?
Titled “It’s Getting Hot and Heavy,” the movie features Lesley Manville, Jason Schwartzman, Henrique Zaga, Omar Apollo, along with Craig and Starkey. The screenplay is penned by Justin Kuritzkes, a collaborator of Guadagnino from his film “Challengers.
