Red Dead Redemption Is Finally On PC, More Than 14 Years Later

As an ardent gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the arrival of Red Dead Redemption on PC is like receiving a long-lost friend after a tiresome journey. After 14 years of patience and anticipation, I’m thrilled to finally saddle up for this classic open-world cowboy adventure. The inclusion of the Undead Nightmare expansion, PC-specific features, and graphical upgrades make it all the more enticing.

After a wait of over 14 years, PC gamers can finally embark on the classic open-world cowboy adventure with Red Dead Redemption. This version comes complete with both the main game and its Undead Nightmare expansion, along with features exclusive to PC such as compatibility for ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors, Nvidia DLSS frame generation, and enhanced graphics.

Interestingly, when Red Dead Redemption was initially launched in 2023, it retailed at $50, a price point that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick deemed “commercially appropriate” on PS4 and Switch (as reported by IGN). Contrast this with the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, which is available for only $35 on Steam, and even cheaper at under $20 on Fanatical. However, if you’re looking to save a bit on Red Dead Redemption, consider taking advantage of this launch deal for its Epic Games Store version.

It’s preferable that the new game starts without as many technical problems as the GTA Trilogy had upon its 2021 PC release.

As Rockstar Games, the creators of Red Dead Redemption, progress with Grand Theft Auto 6, it’s important to note that this game is not yet planned for a PC release. Instead, players can expect it to be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S first, as the developers are focusing their efforts on console versions initially.

It’s reasonable to assume that PC gamers won’t need to wait much longer for Grand Theft Auto 6, given that other Rockstar games like GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2 were eventually released on PC after their console debuts. If GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 launch on consoles, it’s possible that it may follow the same pattern and come to PC as well.
