„Mass Effect Will Maintain the Mature Tone of the Original Trilogy.” ME5 Director Says Sci-Fi RPG Is Different From Dragon Age, Requires „Different Kind of Love” and Will Bet on Photorealism

As a long-time fan of BioWare’s epic space opera, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and anticipation as we edge closer to the release of Mass Effect 5. The Veilguard has certainly been a treat, but it’s clear that our beloved Mass Effect is in a league of its own.

In just two days, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be unveiled, and yesterday, the initial reviews for the game began surfacing online. Mostly positive, but with a few noticeable flaws that couldn’t be overlooked. Meanwhile, BioWare is working on another highly anticipated project – Mass Effect 5. Michael Gamble, the executive producer of this space RPG, recently posted a message addressing comparisons between both series on social media.

There’s a surge of interest in the game “Mass Effect” as the release date of “Veilguard” reviews approaches on October 31st, with many folks inquiring about it.

Both are from the studio, but Mass Effect is Mass Effect. How you bring a Sci Fi RPG to life is different than other genres or IPs… and has to have different kinds of love.”

It’s not surprising that since the launch of The Veilguard, receiving positive feedback, there’s been a growing curiosity about the upcoming Mass Effect. Given this, it’s likely that the studio will dedicate their efforts towards this project in the future. Nevertheless, as Gamble correctly stated, these are distinct universes with unique creators shaping them. Consequently, we can expect these games to exhibit notable differences from one another.

As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to learn that during our discussion, the developer touched upon the tone for the upcoming installment. If you’re like me, a dedicated follower of Commander Shepard’s epic saga, you’ll be pleased with his remarks about preserving the essence of your favorite character’s storyline, even though it remains to be seen if he will appear in the new chapter.

Concerning the tonal aspect of Mass Effect, it will preserve the mature vibe akin to the initial Trilogy, and that’s about all I can share at this moment.

During the same event, Gamble mentioned that Mass Effect 5 aspires for a photorealistic visual appearance. He also touched upon the comparison between The Veilguard and the second installment of the science fiction trilogy regarding production standards. In response, he commented:

“Yeah, there’s a bit of a Mass Effect vibe there…”
