Bleach TYBW reveals original anime design by Tite Kubo

As a hardcore Bleach fan who has followed this series since its inception, I must say that the latest developments in the TYBW anime have truly taken my breath away โ€“ and not just because of Ukitake’s dramatic backstory revelations!

The manga artist, Tite Kubo, who created Bleach, has taken part in the production of the TYBW anime following his introduction of unique characters in a bonus scene for the anime.

At present, the anime adaptation of Bleach is running through TYBW Part 3, focusing on the battles against Yhwach and the Sternritters. The demise of the Soul King caused a potential collapse of all three realms, but Jushiro Ukitake intervened and managed to temporarily restore balance within Soul Society for a duration of ten minutes.

In Episode 29, additional scenes not found in the manga were included. During Ukitake’s self-sacrificing moment, his backstory was delved into more deeply. Unlike the manga, which only hinted at his past, we now understand that he was born frail and had contracted a severe lung disease by the age of three.

Despite medical professionals deeming him beyond salvation, his parents implored the Soul King’s right arm, Mimihagi, to remove his lungs. Mimihagi honored their request, not only saving him but also restoring his health. Subsequently, he joined the Gotei 13 and ascended to the rank of Squad Captain.

In the TYBW anime production, it was revealed that Masashi Kudo was responsible for creating the designs of both the delinquent character and grandmother Oyone from Rukongai. Conversely, the Ukitake siblings’ designs were the work of Kubo-sensei.

A fan Twitter account named @TYBW shared, “The team behind the TYBW anime revealed that Masashi Kudo was responsible for designing the delinquent and Grandmother Oyone in the Rukongai, whereas the Ukitake siblings were designed by Kubo-san himself.

In a bustling street, young Ukitake witnesses an elderly woman being harassed by a man. Contrary to appearances, Ukitake was not intending to assist the woman, but rather the bully, as he knew Grandmother Oyone possessed the ability to knock out anyone with ease. This intricate character design belongs to Masashi Kudo, a renowned anime creator, who is famed for his work on Bleach.

In yet another sequence, Ukitake’s family members are introduced too. Being self-reliant, he has five brothers and two sisters whom he single-handedly supported. Mangaka Tite Kubo is likewise involved in the creative process, crafting fresh designs to enrich Ukitake’s backstory.
