CNN Bans Ryan Girdusky From Network After Racist On Air Attack of Mehdi Hasan

As an experienced cinephile who has witnessed countless debates and discussions on various platforms, I am appalled by the behavior exhibited by Ryan Girdusky during the CNN Newsnight segment. The line between passionate discourse and disrespectful bigotry should never be crossed, and unfortunately, this incident demonstrates that some individuals still struggle to maintain civility in their conversations.

On Monday evening’s “CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip,” a heated debate between a conservative panelist, Ryan Girdusky, and journalist Mehdi Hasan took an unexpectedly harsh turn. This aggressive behavior by Girdusky ultimately resulted in his being barred from the network.

While we were chatting, Girdusky mentioned his hope that my pager wouldn’t suddenly ring – a nod to the ongoing Israeli operations targeting members of the Hezbollah terror group. In these recent attacks, explosives have been set off in pagers similar to mine.

Hassan, as the Muslim founder and editor-in-chief of Zeteo News and a journalist, was taken aback by the remark, questioning, “Were those words meant to imply that I should perish?

CNN promptly issued a declaration, shared on social media by Philip, prohibiting Girdusky from their network.

As a movie enthusiast, I’d say it like this: “In my world of cinema, there’s no place for racism or intolerance at CNN, nor on our broadcasts. Our goal is to facilitate insightful discussions and debates, even among those with stark disagreements, to delve into crucial topics and foster understanding. However, we draw the line when our guests are disrespected or decorum is violated. Regrettably, Ryan Girdusky will not be extended an invitation to our network again.

Following the intermission, Philip stated that Girdusky had been let go during the advertising break, explaining, “A boundary was breached there, and it’s not tolerable for me. It’s not acceptable to us at this broadcasting network. We strive for dialogue. We want individuals with differing opinions to engage with each other. However, when civility is abandoned in favor of the most uncivil form of discourse, such behavior will not be tolerated on our show. The political climate is tense. We are just eight days away from a presidential election, but we can discuss current events in this nation without sinking to the lowest depths of conversation.
