As a movie lover with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, it’s truly disheartening to see such a beloved character from one of my favorite shows, Jay Johnston, who voiced Jimmy Pesto on “Bob’s Burgers,” finding himself entangled in real-life drama.

Interestingly, Jay Johnston, a comedian and former voice actor for Jimmy Pesto on Bob’s Burgers, has been sentenced to 1 year and a day in federal prison due to his involvement in the January 6 Capitol Riots, as reported by NBC News. In a sentencing memo submitted on October 25, Johnston’s attorney, Stanley Woodward, claimed that the government had exaggerated Johnston’s role at the Capitol that day because of his fame as a Hollywood actor. Johnston was apprehended in June 2023 for felony obstruction of officers during civil disorder and multiple misdemeanors. Footage shows him with a stolen riot police shield and, alongside another group of rioters, pushing a police officer guarding the Capitol building’s entrance. Earlier this year, he admitted guilt for interfering with police officers and was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
