As a longtime fan of Lara Croft, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as the announcement of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Season 2 hits my ears! Having grown up with the original games and movies, it feels like coming home to see our beloved archaeologist back on screen.

Renowned archaeologist Lara Croft is set for another adventure in the animated series titled Tomb Raider: The Story of Lara Croft, now streaming on Netflix. This was announced recently via their official companion site, Tudum. In this collaboration with Legendary Television, viewers can expect thrilling near-misses, more tomb exploring, and naturally, more of Lara Croft!

The animated series made its debut on October 10th, 2024, and was well-received during its worldwide premiere on a popular streaming platform, resulting in an official commission for a second season. The storyline of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series continues from the rebooted trilogy by Crystal Dynamics, ending with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018.

In a thrilling turn of events, Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider saga continues in Season 2! This time, Lara will be teaming up with the renowned Sam Nishimura for a brand-new escapade together.

In Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as the iconic character, while showrunner Tasha Huo hints at potential developments for Lara Croft in season 2. During an interview with Netflix Tundum, Huo suggests that Lara’s character could undergo growth in the second season, implying that a “shark” may play a part in these changes.

In Season 1, Lara learns to emulate her father’s approach to dealing with grief, which was quite solitary. Initially, Lara is extremely secluded… As we delve into Season 2, our aim is to develop a team for Lara throughout the series, thereby transitioning her from a solo hero who prefers to act independently – a lone wolf – to recognizing, ‘In fact, I have an amazing team supporting me.’

In her thrilling escapades during Season 1, Lara came face-to-face with a fearsome alligator. However, it’s possible that future seasons could see Lara squaring off against a shark, a tribute to the original Tomb Raider games. This concept was also hinted at in the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life starring Angelina Jolie in 2003. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when we can expect Season 2 of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft to premiere.
