As a seasoned Monster Hunter fan with countless hours spent slaying beasts and crafting gear, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds draws near. After eagerly awaiting news about this highly anticipated title, I was relieved to find out that pre-ordering isn’t required to participate in the open beta.
The open beta for Monster Hunter World’s expansion, titled “Monster Hunter Wilds,” is nearly here, and Capcom is making sure its dedicated fanbase stays updated on how to gain access.
At long last, the eagerly anticipated moment for Monster Hunter enthusiasts draws close! For months, fans have been teased with intriguing sneak peeks showcasing fresh monsters, familiar weapons, and groundbreaking mechanics unique to the franchise. Soon, players will have the chance to lay their hands on the next installment in this beloved series.
For certain players, the Open Beta of Monster Hunter Wilds is getting nearer compared to others due to its console exclusivity, however, there seems to be a bit of uncertainty regarding who can participate in the hands-on experience. The dates for when it starts aren’t causing the confusion, but rather who has access and who doesn’t.
Through their official Monster Hunter account, Capcom has addressed some misunderstandings about whether pre-ordering Monster Hunter Wilds is required for accessing its open beta. They’ve made it clear to everyone on all platforms that it isn’t necessary to pre-order the game for playing the open beta.
For those asking if a pre-order is necessary to participate in Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test, rest assured it isn’t. You can join without having pre-ordered! If you enjoy the beta and decide to pre-order later, that’s awesome too! #MHWilds 😺

capcom clarified that it’s not necessary to have pre-ordered Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (presumably, I’m assuming Monster Hunter Wilds) to participate in the Open Beta Test. Everyone can join!
It’s quite possible that you’ll need to pre-purchase this beta version of the game in order to gain access. Over the past few years, it has become quite common for early access periods to require pre-orders.
In games such as Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Diablo 4, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, we’ve noticed that they are available for purchase. On the other hand, the purpose of Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is not to reward pre-orders, but to encourage them instead.
The beta launches on Monday, October 28, at 8:00 PM PT for PlayStation players with a PlayStation Plus account. For everyone else, it begins on Thursday, October 31, at 8:00 PM PT.
This special event concludes this coming Sunday, November 3rd at 6:59 PM Pacific Time, and importantly, no pre-order is necessary to participate. However, if you decide to pre-order after trying out the Open Beta Test, Capcom encourages you to do so.
