As a seasoned viewer of From, I must say that this episode has certainly taken an unexpected turn. The emotional turmoil of the characters is palpable and it reminds me of my own experiences when watching a good series – the fear, the suspense, the uncertainty, and the anticipation of what might happen next.
In the third season’s sixth episode titled ‘Scar Tissue’, tension rises when Victor and Henry venture into the tunnels. Several characters make appearances, and a dilemma arises for Fatima after she encounters an ultrasound scanner.
The fifth episode of Season 3 concluded in a chilling manner as Dale ventured towards the distant tree, ultimately suffering a tragic fate. Meanwhile, the town’s residents were dealing with their own issues; Boyd wrestled with his guilt over Randall, while Ellis uncovered Fatima’s worries about their infant child.
After Tabitha’s comeback, the town gathering didn’t turn out favorably for her, making her feel like she had missed a chance to seek assistance in the real world. Despite this setback, there was a touching moment as Victor and Henry reunited warmly.
The storyline unfolds further in the most recent Episode 3 installment, brimming with surprises that leave us pondering even more queries (which is part of what makes this series so intriguing)! Caution: Potential spoilers lie ahead!
Resentment builds between Jim and Tabitha
The story unfolds in the wee hours at the Matthews’ residence, as a heated argument ensues between Jim and Tabitha. The dispute kicks off with Jim attempting to console Tabitha, who’s been doubting herself due to allegations that she didn’t contribute enough in the real world.
Yet, whenever Tabitha refutes him, they engage in a heated dispute about their relationship. This argument brings to light past grievances related to how they each handled the loss of their son, Thomas. Tabitha asserts that Jim was absent during difficult times, while Jim counters by saying she left him and the children behind.
The conversation shifts towards how Tabitha was contemplating divorce prior to reaching Fromville. However, their discussion is abruptly halted by the shrieks of a beast nearby, underscoring the urgency of dealing with the present situation at hand.
The next day, it appears no changes or reconciliations took place. Meanwhile, Jim sets off to collect additional supplies at the lake, while Julie seems displeased due to the disturbance of a heated argument she heard during the night.
As Tabitha was attempting to clarify something, Julie jested that things were back to normal, hinting that she had overheard plenty of disagreements at the Matthews’ residence even before encountering the downed tree – me, I couldn’t help but notice the long-standing tension.
Jade learns more about the bottle tree
At Jade’s residence, he invited Boyd over to share some thrilling advancements in his ongoing investigation. He displayed a map detailing his discoveries and engaged in extensive speculation about the findings.
Jade proposes that the distant tree, which apparently took Tabitha back home, might be a wormhole or a tear in the fabric of dimensions. However, Boyd interrupts Jade, as he was about to go off on a tangent, questioning, “Did you inspect the bottles from the other tree?
Starting from Season 1, Boyd and Sara stumbled upon a unique bottle-laden tree during their forest expedition, and within it, they uncovered a note bearing the year ‘1864’. This surprising discovery leaves Jade questioning where exactly the second tree could be found.
As a gamer, I find myself transported into Colony House, stepping into my dad’s room where old man Henry resides. It’s been ages since we last met, and it shows. We’re trying to reconnect, but it’s tough – decades of life experiences separate us, and there’s a lot of ground to cover.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got an urgent mission on my hands. It seems I need to track down this guy called Jasper, and uncovering more about Fromville and the mysterious force behind it is his specialty. Let’s hope I can find him soon!
Since it’s about exploring the tunnels, he prefers Henry not to join him. Yet, when he notices his father looking distressed, Victor offers, “Would you care to accompany me for a while?
At the clinic, Marielle informs Boyd that the ambulance carrying Tabitha had everything it needed on board, with an added bonus of an ultrasound machine as well.
Yes, that’s right – it’s time to learn more about Fatima’s baby.
Fatima fears the worst about her baby
Regarding that matter, Fatima and Ellis are at the moment discussing what steps to take following his discovery of her unusual food preferences during pregnancy. Despite his positive outlook, Fatima is apprehensive about revealing the news for fear that others might perceive their unborn child as a monster.
Boyd interrupts their conversation by knocking on the door. Fatima doesn’t want him to come in, but Ellis talks her round by saying, “I am just as scared as you but we cannot do this alone.”
It’s high time you inform Boyd. His worried expression is evident, yet instead of speculating, he shares with everyone about the ultrasound device.
Even though Fatima tries to ignore the truth, Ellis offers comfort and encourages them both to uncover it as soon as possible instead of delaying.
I moved towards the pool, which served as the tragic spot where Dale had taken his last breath, surrounded by stones placed by Donna. Tabitha dropped by, and once more, she couldn’t help but ponder if her time spent away from this secluded world was misguided.
Donna notes that she might have found herself in a similar predicament as Dale, but what truly matters is that she made it back safe and sound for her children.
Victor and Henry head to the tunnels
As I traverse alongside my old man, Henry, we make our way towards those dimly lit tunnels. You see, I’ve shared with him my rationale for this journey – I’m convinced that within these shadowy depths lies the key to salvation for all of Fromville.
At the entrance, Victor asks Henry to depart, but Henry stubbornly resists. “I’ve only just regained you. I can’t let you go again. If you’re determined to act like this, we’ll face it side by side.
In the clinic, Marielle is attending to Randall’s injuries. Upon requesting a look at the damage, she offers him a mirror and steps back, granting him some privacy. However, it might be premature – when Randall looks in the mirror, he sees deep scars across his face, causing him to visibly tremble with emotion.
As they traverse the tunnels, Victor guides them, scattering toy soldiers as a mark for them in case they have to flee quickly. However, upon reaching the chamber where Victor last spotted Jasper, it’s conspicuously vacant.
It’s quite distressing, considering the prior presence of not just a ventriloquist dummy, but also a clock, a wheelchair, and numerous slumbering monsters within it.
According to Victor, we should explore more deeply, but Henry expresses doubts about this course of action. It appears that Henry has been unexpectedly placed in a challenging situation, and their predicament doesn’t seem to be improving as they continue to delve deeper into the labyrinthine tunnels.
At Colony House, I’ve made an arrangement for a scan, and I’m hesitant to share my newfound cravings with Kristi unless it becomes necessary.
While descending the steps, Elgin snaps a picture of her using the Polaroid camera that he and Julie had discovered in the previous episode’s finale. Is it just me or does this scene seem destined to be a staple in upcoming horror films?
From character returns to teach Jade a lesson
In the forest, Jade arrives at the second bottle tree, but instead finds a spectral figure – it’s none other than the spirit of Tom, the barkeeper from Season 2, who met an untimely end.
As a gamer, I find myself questioning Jade’s investigation, thinking she might be reaching for explanations that are too far-fetched – like grabbing at straws. But Jade quickly corrects me, reminding me of Miranda, Victor’s mom, who had visions of the tree in Fromville before she even knew about it. That certainly makes me reconsider my doubts.
He’s stating that he doesn’t see significance in ideas that are meaningless, and this seems to be closing the door on Dead Tom’s theories, which is making Jade more and more irritated. (We’ve started referring to him as Dead Tom.)
Yet, he subsequently brings Jade’s memory back to the man he once was – the hardy entrepreneur who built a multi-million-dollar empire. He then suggests, “If you’re serious about taking this place down, perhaps you should clear your head and reach out to that individual.
Jade looks away to think of a response but when he turns back, Dead Tom is gone.
The “anghkooey” kids are back
The scene cuts to the Matthews’ home, where Ethan asks his mom about Tian-Chen and whether she was happy with her late husband, Bing-Qian.
Tabitha notices that Ethan picked up on their argument from last night and expresses regret. Ethan shares a desire for a return to the time when they first moved to Fromville, a period where no one dared argue yet.
As a fervent admirer, I found myself interrupted mid-conversation when a sound of banging from the upper floor caught Tabitha’s attention. Intrigued and slightly alarmed, she ventured to investigate. Upon reaching the top, my heart skipped a beat as I encountered the eerie presence of the “anghkooey” ghost children once more. They surrounded me, their spectral forms giving me no room to escape before vanishing yet again.
At the swimming pool, I’m nearly done setting up Dale’s online memorial when Kenny shows up. He’s been struggling since Tian-Chen passed away and asks if he can move in with us at Colony House. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to accommodate him.
Next, we transition to Jade’s residence, where Tabitha and Ethan arrive with the intention of aiding him in deciphering the riddle. He discloses to them about the second tree laden with bottles, hinting that they each contain identical sets of messages.
As Tabitha ponders, “What’s this all about?”, Jade muses aloud, “To be honest, I haven’t the foggiest. But I’m growing more hopeful by the minute that these dates and numbers could hold a clue to something crucial we need to grasp.
Randall gets a new home
At the clinic, Marielle was about to release Randall, but their conversation took a turn towards weightier topics. He questioned her about why she seemed fine when, as they both recalled, they along with Julie had been put into a near-comatose state and ended up in the dungeons.
Randall and Julie are still struggling with trauma, while Marielle appears unscathed. He speculates this might be due to her advantageous circumstances, as she resides comfortably at the clinic alongside her partner, Kristi.
In a different context, I’d express it like this: “Things aren’t the same on the bus,” I admit. “I can’t hide my fears. It’s downright petrifying.” Without a moment’s pause, Marielle invites me to share their place, saying, “Pack your belongings. Nobody here needs to be lonely.” Gratefully, I accept her offer.
In the depths of the tunnels, Victor and Henry reach a room containing all the artifacts (as well as the creatures). Quietly, Victor picks up Jasper and stashes him in his sack. However, when they attempt to exit, Henry notices some garment that seems to belong to Miranda.
It sparks an emotional response, one that rouses one of the sleeping creatures. If that weren’t terrifying enough, they hear the voice of a fully conscious monster, who says, “You know Victor, if you keep coming down here, one of these days we’ll make you stay.”
Fatima’s ultrasound takes an interesting turn
The pair make a run for it, hearing screams from the distance as they head away from the chamber. Once they get out, Victor takes Henry to the shipping container home out in the woods.
Victor shares, “This was my secret spot when I was by myself before others arrived.” Hearing this, Henry was shocked to learn that his child spent so much time alone. However, Victor comforts his father by saying, “Things are all right now,” particularly since they have Jasper with them.
He mentions that he’s previously overheard him narrate a tale about this location to Christopher, and now he wants him to recount it again, he notes.
In the meantime, it’s now time for Fatima’s ultrasound scan. However, an unusual incident takes place: as Kristi maneuvers the probe, the screen displays… nothing at all. There’s no sign of a baby, a creature, or anything else.
Fatima maintains that the diagnosis is incorrect, so Kristi arranges another examination, but it produces identical findings. Trying to console her, Kristi and Marielle fail, as Fatima becomes more and more agitated. Eventually, Ellis advises, “It’s time for you to share your concerns.
Tabitha uncovers connection to Fromville
The scene cuts to Colony House where Elgin is developing the images. Lo and behold, when he looks at the photo of Fatima, something creepy starts to appear.
To the side of her stands a woman adorned in a kimono, who has been a recurring figure for him since Season 3. All of a sudden, she materializes beside him and murmurs softly into his ear, “Elgin, let me aid you. I can rescue you all. I can help you return home.
Each time she shows up, she vanishes quickly, and when Elgin glances back at the photograph, he realizes that only Fatima remains, with no one else standing beside her.
At Jade’s residence, he comforted Tabitha regarding the “anghkooey” spirits, explaining that they pose no threat to her.
While conversing, Tabitha happens upon one of Jade’s sketches depicting the eerie ward figures he discovered near the lake, stirring a recollection within her.
In that episode, Jade describes having a persistent childhood dream involving effigies and three red stones that she often encountered.
She had an epiphany, expressing, “This wasn’t only familiar because of Miranda; I also recognized it myself, I was simply unaware.
