‘Interstellar’ VFX Supervisor Paul Franklin Joins BeloFX as Creative Director

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a soft spot for breathtaking visual effects, I am thrilled to witness Paul Franklin, a legendary visual effects supervisor, embarking on a new journey at beloFX as Creative Director. His illustrious career spanning over two decades at DNEG, where he co-founded the company and worked on groundbreaking films like “Interstellar,” “Inception,” and the “Dark Knight” trilogy, is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the esteemed visual effects supervisor, Paul Franklin – known for his Oscar-winning contributions to Christopher Nolan’s masterpieces “Interstellar” and “Inception” – has taken on the role of Creative Director at beloFX, a company that blends VFX and technology. This is an exciting development for me, as I eagerly anticipate what innovative visual wonders await us in future cinematic journeys!

Previously, for a span of 25 years, he had been part of DNEG, a prominent VFX company that he helped establish in 1998. Now, by moving to beloFX, he’s reconnecting with his DNEG co-founders Matt Holben and Alex Hope.

In 2021, Belofx was established by its co-founders Holben and Hope, along with Ellen Walder as COO and Graham Jack as CTO. Elisabeth Murdoch provided financing for this venture. The company has three studios located in Canada, the United Kingdom, and India where it carries out its operations.

For several years, Franklin, a partner of Nolan’s in many projects, oversaw the visual effects for all three movies in the “Dark Knight” series. His work can also be seen in films like “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Venom,” and most recently, “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire.

Hope expressed her enthusiasm by saying, ‘His consistent dedication to advancing visual effects is perfectly in line with what we strive for at beloFX. I’m thrilled to have him join our team, and I’m eager to embark on this new journey together.’

BeloFX has been involved in various projects, such as “Disclaimer,” “Wolfs,” “The Acolyte,” “My Lady Jane,” and “Madame Web.” In the future, you can expect their work on “Ballerina” and “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.

Franklin expressed his great enthusiasm about becoming part of the exceptionally skilled group at beloFX, stating, ‘I can’t wait to dive right in and contribute to shaping the course of our field.’
