Dr Disrespect teases “much bigger” opportunity as YouTube delays monetization application

As a long-time follower of Dr Disrespect, also known as Doc, I have witnessed his meteoric rise and tumultuous fall from grace in the streaming world. From the highs of being a Twitch phenomenon to the lows of being permanently banned and losing partnership deals, Doc’s journey has been nothing short of dramatic.

Dr Disrespect announced that YouTube has delayed his re-monetization application, hinting at potential plans for something even more substantial.

Back in June 2024, some ex-Twitch staff members finally spoke up regarding the permanent ban of streamer Dr Disrespect (real name Guy Beahm) on the platform, revealing reasons behind this action.

It’s been claimed that he sent inappropriate messages to a minor, which he himself confessed to in a tweet that has since been removed.

Beahm suffered losses in partnerships, such as his YouTube monetization, and was expelled from the game studio he helped establish. He briefly stepped away from streaming before returning a few months later to disclose additional details about the situation. He accused Twitch staff of manipulating the ban, while stating that the messages he sent were misconstrued.

While Doc is in limbo, hoping YouTube will reactivate his channel’s monetization, other platforms have declared they won’t enter into exclusive contracts with him. Kick, who previously proposed a $10M yearly deal before the Twitch ban scandal surfaced, now views signing him as futile and potentially damaging to their brand.

Contrarily, Chris Pavlovski, CEO of Rumble, has indicated an open invitation for Dr Disrespect to join their platform, contrary to speculations about not extending a contract to him.

On October 24th, Dr Disrespect posted a cryptic tweet reading “Let’s Make Gaming Great Again,” to which Pavlovski replied with an eye emoji.

These tweets ignited numerous speculations within the streaming community, leading some to believe that Beahm might be moving to Rumble or parting ways with YouTube.

Someone commented that having Dr Disrespect on Rumble could revolutionize the platform,” is a simpler, more conversational way of expressing the original sentence.

“Would love to see Doc streaming on Rumble!” another chimed in.

Dr Disrespect teases “bigger” opportunity if YouTube rejects monetization

A while afterwards, Doc unveiled his latest merchandise store stocked with “Make Gaming Great Again” clothing items – a move that resonated strongly within the gaming community known as Rumble.

For the gamers, by the gamers.

Furthermore, Dr Disrespect announced later in the day that YouTube had delayed their decision on his monetization application, stating it would be resubmitted in exactly 60 days.

Alright, so we’ll hold off for about two more months. There could be a really significant development in store, one that could be quite substantial,” he hinted playfully. “This could potentially be one of the most promising chances yet for us, twice over.

Without considering Kick and Twitch as options, Rumble could be a possible new platform for Doc. Notably, the CEO of this platform seems to advocate for “leniency” or “mercy.

In most cases when content rules are broken, we don’t immediately ban users; instead, we give a warning (or strike) as an opportunity for learning and improvement before taking further action. We advocate for forgiveness and the chance to correct mistakes.

Hey there fellow gamer! If I were to respond to a curious fan asking if Rumble, similar to Twitch, would have banned Asmongold for his comments about Palestine, here’s how I’d put it:

If someone breaks our rules, we initially give them a warning (or penalty) to help them understand and make adjustments. We value forgiveness and believe it’s important for learning and improvement.

Over the next couple of months, we’ll need to observe the outcome of his YouTube application. If that doesn’t pan out, there’s a possibility he might move to a different platform like Rumble as an alternative.
