Madden 25 ratings for Week 8 – Justin Jefferson re-joins 99 Club

As a seasoned football enthusiast who’s seen my share of highs and lows, I must say the Madden Player Ratings for Week 8 have been quite intriguing. The defensive juggernaut that is Ward and the Browns’ D certainly deserves some offensive support, and perhaps Jameis Winston can provide just that. It’s a bit like watching a well-oiled machine in need of a missing cog – a tad frustrating, but with potential for an exciting turnaround.

The new Madden 25 Player Rating update is here for Week 8, and it brings significant alterations such as Minnesota Vikings’ wide receiver Justin Jefferson rejoining the elite 99 Club. Unfortunately, Tyreek Hill has departed from this prestigious group, as various players experienced rating modifications this week. Let’s delve into the Madden 25 Player Ratings Update as we move forward into Week 8.

  • Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings – 99 OVR (+1)

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been reinstated in the prestigious Madden 99 Club, as developers have assigned him a 99 overall rating in the game. Previously, Jefferson was part of Madden 24’s 99 Club, but he was later removed from it. His removal may have stemmed from an injury he sustained last season. However, even with nine starts in 2024, Jefferson managed to surpass the 1,000-yard mark and score five touchdowns.

This current sports season finds Jefferson atop the league in receiving yards, but we’ll have to see how the Week 8 games unfold before anything is certain. In their Thursday Night game against L.A., Jefferson managed to catch eight passes for 115 yards. It appears that his performance remains consistent regardless of who throws the ball, as he seems adaptable to any quarterback on the field.

Jefferson recently became the youngest player to make a second entry into the exclusive 99 Club during his career, an achievement we feel he shouldn’t have been deprived of initially. Notably, Jefferson is currently the only Minnesota Viking to achieve this double accolade twice. Only three other players in the team’s history managed it once.

  • Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins – 98 OVR (-1)

Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver, has been officially taken out of the Madden 25’s 99 Club. Unlike Justin Jefferson who plays consistently regardless of the quarterback, Hill seems to have had difficulties linking up with the rotating Dolphins quarterbacks Skylar Thompson, Tim Boyle, and Tyler Huntley. It’s possible that Tua Tagovailoa may return this week, which could lead to a resurgence in Hill’s performance. However, the 99 Club is reserved for the top tier players, and with only 100 receiving yards over the last three games, it’s challenging to argue Hill’s eligibility.

It’s puzzling that the Madden 25 99 Club includes players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce who have had a tough season so far, especially since Hill seems to be out of the picture due to his performance. However, maybe their team’s undefeated streak is justifying their continued membership in the club.

  • Roquan Smith, Baltimore Ravens – 96 OVR (+1)

In the league so far, Smith is second with the highest number of tackles. Last week, in the match against the Buccaneers, he managed an impressive 18 total tackles (11 of which were solo). Despite the Ravens’ defense conceding 21 points in the fourth quarter, Smith remains a dependable player who can stop significant plays from happening. The Ravens have been in great form lately, winning five consecutive games following a rocky start with two losses. They’ll need players like Smith to help maintain their winning streak.

  • Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles – 94 OVR (+1)

Last week saw Barkley rule over the Giants, notching 176 rushing yards and scoring a touchdown as the Eagles clinched a 28-3 win over his previous team. It’s been a restless night for the Giants’ owner, John Mara, this season, given that his former standout running back is excelling in Philadelphia. Barkley was eager to shine, having been somewhat sidelined against the Buccaneers and facing challenges against the Browns. He aims to keep up his strong performance against a Bengals defense, which yields an average of 136 rushing yards per game (the 11th highest in the league).

  • Denzel Ward, Cleveland Browns – 91 OVR (+1)

This season so far, Ward has managed the highest number of incompletions with 11, demonstrating Cleveland’s impressive defensive play over the past two weeks. They successfully restricted both the Eagles and Bengals to only two offensive touchdowns each, despite facing some of the top offensive talents in the league. However, it appears that Ward and the Browns’ defense could benefit from more support from the offense, which hasn’t yet scored 20 points in a single game this season. Maybe having Jameis Winston as the starting quarterback will provide the much-needed relief to this defense.

Furthermore, several other players saw a boost in their Madden Player Ratings prior to Week 8.

  • Marlon Humphrey – 92 OVR (+2)
  • Xavier McKinney – 91 OVR (+1)
  • Marshon Lattimore – 91 OVR (+1)
  • Trey Hendrickson – 90 OVR (+1)
  • Danielle Hunter – 89 OVR (+1)
  • Kenny Moore II – 88 OVR (+1)
  • Brian Branch – 88 OVR (+2)
  • Chris Godwin – 87 OVR (+1)
  • Tony Pollard – 87 OVR (+1)
  • Julian Love – 85 OVR (+1)

  • Jahmyr Gibbs – 85 OVR (+1)
  • Jaycee Horn – 85 OVR (+1)
  • Andrew Van Ginkel – 85 OVR (+1)
  • Jared Goff – 84 OVR (+2)
  • Brian Robinson Jr. – 83 OVR (+2)

However, many players received a decrease to their Madden 25 player rating ahead of Week 8:

  • Nick Chubb – 95 OVR (-1)
  • Demario Davis – 93 OVR (-1)
  • Quinnen Williams – 93 OVR (-1)
  • Davante Adams – 91 OVR (-1)
  • Tyrann Mathieu – 90 OVR (-2)
  • A.J. Terrell Jr – 88 OVR (-1)
  • Lavonte David – 88 OVR (-1)
  • Brock Purdy – 87 OVR (-1)
  • DeAndre Hopkins – 86 OVR (-3)
  • Alvin Kamara – 86 OVR (-1)
  • Justin Simmons – 86 OVR (-2)
  • Stephon Gillmore – 86 OVR (-1)
  • Jaylen Waddle – 86 OVR (-1)
  • Devon Witherspoon – 85 OVR (-1)
  • Tua Tagovailoa – 85 OVR (-1)
  • Harrison Smith – 85 OVR (-2)
  • Garrett Wilson – 85 OVR (-1)
  • James Conner – 84 OVR (-1)
  • Haason Reddick – 84 OVR (-1)
  • Justin Herbert – 83 OVR (-1)
  • Cameron Jordan – 81 OVR (-3)

Overall, that includes the Madden 25 player ratings as we head into week 8. As we reach the halfway point of the season, we’ve seen a lot of changes to player ratings. Many players have soared, and many have faltered. We look forward to seeing them change more as the season progresses.
