Lawsuit Accuses Ex-WWE Owner Vince McMahon Of Disturbing New Allegations

As someone who has been following the tumultuous journey of Vince McMahon for years, I must say that the latest revelations about his alleged involvement in the abuse of ring boys is truly disheartening. It’s like watching the ultimate heel (villain) in wrestling, who always managed to find ways to escape accountability, finally getting caught with his hands dirty.

The recently debuted Netflix docuseries titled “Mr. McMahon” provides a candid glimpse into the turbulent past of Vincent K. McMahon, the controversial ex-owner of WWE. This mini-series delves into an old controversy surrounding the WWE ring boys from the 1980s, which has resurfaced and led to fresh legal action against McMahon, his spouse Linda McMahon (who was also a former WWE CEO), and the World Wrestling Entertainment.

According to NBC’s report, five ex-WWE ring attendants (who were teenagers responsible for setting up the ring at shows) have filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, claiming that they failed to prevent Melvin Phillips Jr., a former ring announcer, from sexually exploiting them when they were minors. The victims, some as young as 12 and 13, allege that this occurred during WWE shows. The lawsuit states that McMahon dismissed Phillips in 1988 due to initial sexual misconduct accusations, but later rehired him with a stipulation to avoid children. However, it’s alleged that Phillips continued his abusive behavior after returning to the WWE.

According to law firms DiCello Levitt and Murphy, as well as Falcon & Murphy, Phillips allegedly manipulated, mistreated, and sexually violated minor boys. These children were often from troubled homes, the attorneys stated. McMahon is being charged with knowing about Phillips’ inappropriate fascination towards underage males.

McMahon exited WWE following allegations from a previous employee accusing him of human trafficking and exploitation for sexual purposes. This case has been temporarily suspended while the U.S. Department of Justice carries out its investigation.
