How to unlock Black Ops 6 mastery camo challenges
As a gamer diving into Black Ops 6, I’ve noticed that the camouflage patterns in this game are neatly categorized: Military, Special, and Mastery. To access the highly sought-after Mastery camo challenges for each gaming mode, you’ll first need to crack the code on the Military and Special camos. This year, the process of unlocking camos has undergone a tweak, but these changes are generally positive as they make the camo grinding less of a hassle.
For the first time, Warzone features a distinct Mastery camouflage progression all its own. However, it’s crucial to understand that the camo grind in Warzone won’t start until after Black Ops 6 is merged into the battle royale with the Season 1 update.
In Black Ops 6, they’ve streamlined the process for earning camo challenges on weapons. Previously, you had to progress to certain levels before you could begin unlocking the basic Military camouflages. But now, that leveling requirement has been eliminated, making it easier to start customizing your weapons with camo.
Step one: Military camos
Each weapon comes with nine different military camouflages that become accessible as you reach specific achievements in each game mode. Typically, these are unlocked by accumulating points:
- Multiplayer: Headshots
- Zombies: Critical Kills
- Warzone: Eliminations
To put it simply, each type of military camouflage needs to be unlocked separately for every individual weapon. For instance, once you unlock the first multiplayer Military camo (Granite) for the AMES 85, you can use it on the AMES 85 across all game modes. However, this specific camo can’t be applied to any other weapon until you separately unlock the Granite camo with that particular weapon.
To begin exploring the camo challenges, first, pick a weapon, then navigate to the Gunsmith, and finally, click on the Customize option. Here’s where you can see various camos, stickers, and weapon charms to personalize your chosen weapons.
After finishing all the Military skins for a particular weapon, you’ll be able to proceed to the next stage – unlocking its Special skins.
Step two: Special camos
To get the special camouflage for a weapon in your preferred mode (Multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone), complete all nine military camouflage challenges associated with that weapon. Each weapon has exclusive “special camo patterns” per mode that can only be obtained using that specific weapon. The unique special camos can be unlocked in any sequence once you’ve earned the necessary access, and each one has distinct criteria for unlocking, often based on the weapon’s characteristics or playing style.
After being unveiled, unique camouflages (Special camos) become universally applicable and can be attached to any weapon, provided that the said weapon has met the Military camo requirements and gained access to the Special category in at least one gaming mode. Subsequently, you are free to choose any Special camo of your preference and employ it across all game modes.
Step three: Mastery camos
After unlocking all military and special camouflages for a specific weapon, you’re now ready to embark on the Camo mastery challenges. Each game mode (Multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone) offers four distinct Mastery camouflages to be unlocked. Just as with Military camos, Mastery camos need to be earned separately for each weapon.
You don’t have to complete them for all modes either. This is three separate Mastery camo grinds, so you can pick and choose which modes you want to focus on.
We highlight all the Mastery camos and specific requirements below.
Black Ops 6 – Multiplayer Mastery camos
Gold camo
Unlocking the gold mastery challenge is your next achievement after successfully finishing the Military and Special tasks related to a particular weapon.
As a gamer, I’ve learned that to unlock the Gold camo, I need to accomplish a personalized mission for each unique weapon. These missions differ from one weapon to another, making it a unique challenge for every gun I wield.
Diamond
To conquer the Diamond mastery test, you must initially finish all the Gold camouflage challenges for every weapon within the same weapon category first.
To give you an idea, you must successfully finish every Gold-tier challenge related to the assault rifle category to gain access to the Diamond challenge for assault rifles.
Each weapon presents a unique Diamond challenge customized specifically for it, meaning the tasks associated with them differ from one weapon to another.
Dark Spine
Dark Spine is an animated camo. You’ll first need to get the Diamond camo for every weapon in the game, and then complete the Dark Spine camo challenge specific for each of those weapons.
In Black Oops 6, there are a total of 33 different weapons that can be launched. To unlock the Diamond camo for each weapon, you will require that number.
Pro tip: More weapons will be added throughout the seasons, but the total needed for this camo won’t change. It’s sometimes best to leave the weapons you don’t enjoy or struggle with for last, as a DLC weapon in the same class could be a better replacement. This also applies to the Zombies and Warzone Mastery camo grinds.
Starting later in the year can simplify the process a bit, allowing you to carefully choose from among the available weapons rather than having to select them all at once.
Dark Matter
In this game, you can earn a sleek and active camouflage pattern called “Dark Spine” by mastering 33 different weapons. Once you’ve achieved this with each weapon, you’ll unlock the challenge for the ultimate multiplayer camouflage, known as the “Dark Matter.” This is the highest level of Mastery camo in the game.
Black Ops 6 – Zombies Mastery camos
Mystic Gold
Unlocking Mystic Gold serves as the initial Zombies mastery challenge for a weapon, which becomes accessible once you’ve conquered both the Military and Special challenges.
As a thrilled fan, I’ve found that unlocking the enigmatic Mystic Gold camo calls for me to conquer personal challenges uniquely designed for each weapon within the Zombies mode. Consequently, the tasks I encounter will differ significantly from one weapon to another.
Opal
To conquer the mastery challenges for Opal Zombies, you should initially finish all the Mystic Gold camouflage challenges for every weapon within the same weapon category first.
To give an instance, you should finish every challenge related to the Mystic Gold category for the assault rifle class first, as that is a prerequisite to accessing the Opal challenges specifically for assault rifles.
Each weapon you have receives a unique Opal challenge customized to it, meaning the tasks assigned will differ for every weapon.
Afterlife
In simpler terms, the afterlife is like a special camouflage that needs to be unlocked. To do this, you must obtain the Opal camouflage for all the weapons within the game first. Once you have the Opal camouflage, you’ll need to complete the unique challenges associated with each weapon for the Afterlife camouflage.
There are 33 launch weapons in Black Ops 6, so this is how many Opal camos you’ll need to unlock.
Pro tip: More weapons will be added throughout the seasons, but the total needed for this camo won’t change. It’s sometimes best to leave the weapons you don’t enjoy or struggle with for last, as a DLC weapon in the same class could be a better replacement. This also applies to multiplayer and Warzone Mastery challenges.
Starting later in the year can provide some advantage, allowing you to carefully choose from among the available weapons instead of having to select them all at once.
Nebula
In this game, the Nebula camouflage is a lively and changing one. By achieving the Afterlife camouflage for 33 different weapons, you can unlock the Nebula camouflage challenge for those specific weapons. This is the ultimate Zombies Mastery camouflage challenge to conquer in the game.
Black Ops 6 – Warzone Mastery camos
Gold Tiger
Unlocking the Gold Tiger is your initial Warzone Mastery challenge following the completion of both Military and Special challenges for any given weapon.
To unlock the Gold Tiger camouflage, you’ll need to accomplish a unique task designed for each individual weapon. Consequently, the tasks will differ based on the weapon you’re using.
King’s Ransom
To unlock the King’s Ransom Mastery challenge, you need to first complete all of the Gold Tiger camo challenges for all the weapons in the same weapon class.
To put it simply, to access the King’s Ransom challenge specifically for assault rifles, make sure you’ve successfully finished every single Gold Tiger challenge related to the assault rifle class first.
Each unique King’s Ransom challenge is customized to fit the specific weapon, resulting in different tasks for each weapon.
Catalyst
Catalyst is an animated camo. You’ll first need to get the King’s Ransom camo for every weapon in the game, and then complete the Catalyst camo challenge specific for each of those weapons.
In Black Ops 6, there are a total of 33 launch weapons. Consequently, that’s the number of King’s Ransom camos you’ll have to unlock to achieve it.
Pro tip: More weapons will be added throughout the seasons, but the total needed for this camo won’t change. It’s sometimes best to leave the weapons you don’t enjoy or struggle with for last, as a DLC weapon in the same class could be a better replacement. This also applies to the multiplayer and Zombies Mastery camo grinds.
Starting later in the year can provide some ease to the process, since you’ll have more flexibility to choose the weapons you prefer from the array available.
Abyss
The Abyss is a lively, changing kind of camouflage. Obtain the Catalyst camouflage for 33 different weapons within the game to initiate the Abyss camouflage challenge on those specific weapons. This is the ultimate Warzone Mastery camouflage challenge to conquer.
