Amazon-Exclusive Borderlands 4K Steelbook Edition Is Now Available

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the Borderlands movie might not have been the adaptation we all hoped for, but the exclusive steelbook cases are certainly a treat! The Amazon-exclusive Claptrap edition is simply outstanding, emulating the rugged design of our favorite motor-mouthed disservice droid. The Walmart edition, while cheaper by $5, doesn’t quite match up in terms of coolness factor.

The Borderlands movie can now be purchased in 4K Blu-ray format. Although many fans might have preferred a different adaptation, the limited edition steelbox featuring Claptrap that comes with the $35 Amazon-exclusive version is quite impressive. Walmart also offers an exclusive steelbox, but it showcases the main characters of the film; while not as captivating, it’s currently available for $5 cheaper than Amazon’s steelbox.

Two special releases include 4K Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray, and digital copies of the movie. Or, if you prefer, purchase a standard 4K Blu-ray version from Amazon for just $30.

For additional features, you’ll find interesting behind-the-scenes documentaries about the film’s production process. Whether you purchase it from Amazon or Walmart, the package includes this collection of bonus materials.

Another noticeable distinction between these versions lies in the disc art. The 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray discs sport unique designs, tailored exclusively for each retailer.

Upon its theatrical release on August 9th, Borderlands received unfavorable reviews across various platforms, often being labeled as an underwhelming adaptation that falls short in capturing the game’s enchanting qualities. Critics have given it a Metascore of 26 on TopMob’s associated site, Metacritic, and a 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, fans seem to have a slightly more favorable opinion, with a user score of 3.1/10 on Metacritic and a 51% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In essence, according to Phil Owen’s review on TopMob, Borderlands is generally ordinary and forgettable throughout its duration. It leaves such a light imprint that it becomes challenging to dislike it with much sincerity or passion.
