As a seasoned gamer and a connoisseur of action-packed films, I find myself torn between excitement and skepticism regarding John Wick 5. Having watched Keanu Reeves’ iconic hitman gracefully dance through chaos in the previous installments, I can confidently say that Chapter 4 was not just a great action movie; it was a fitting end to a legendary character’s journey.
As an ardent John Wick fan, I’m excited about the rumors of John Wick 5 being in “active development,” but let’s not get ahead of ourselves – it might be a while before we actually see it on the big screen. If and when it does materialize, there’s one crucial factor that needs to be met: it must continue to deliver the action-packed, high-quality storytelling that has made this franchise a fan favorite.
In a more conversational manner, John Wick: Chapter 4 wasn’t just an exceptional action movie; it served as a fitting conclusion to Keanu Reeves’ legendary character, John Wick. This final installment granted him the dignity of a seemingly deceased end, allowing for the illusion of his demise.
Oh, it’s clear that wealth has influence, and given that the JWCU is growing with Ballerina and a series focusing on Donnie Yen’s character Caine (let’s imagine The Continental didn’t exist), it appears that John Wick 5 is all but guaranteed.
In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Chad Stahelski hinted at the possibility of a fifth installment in the franchise.
Are there chances for advancement, either financially or creatively? Absolutely, there are! However, these opportunities often challenge our thoughts,” he clarified.
For the past three years, I’ve drafted several iterations of John Wick 5 – around three to four different scenarios. It’s more like a creative challenge or brainstorming session for me as I strive to find the best narrative approach.
Regardless of the form John Wick 5 ultimately assumes, there’s one point that’s already set in stone: it will feature an entirely new narrative.
Stahelski added, ‘Nothing can surpass what we accomplished. It’s over. That’s it. That’s the agreement. That’s where we found our resolution.’
“We have some fantastic concepts, but they wouldn’t fit within the narrative of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’. They might surprise you because they’re not what you’d expect. If we could develop them so that Keanu and I both feel it’s a brilliant idea without it feeling overly contrived or cheesy, then that would be terrific.
As for Chapter 4, I believe we hit our stride there. For me, that was the pinnacle of our creative journey. We concluded it, and it stands as a complete story in its own right. Looking back at it now, I feel nothing but pride and satisfaction. However, we wouldn’t attempt to surpass it or expand upon it further. It’s a self-contained masterpiece, a gem in our gaming portfolio.
Reeves hasn’t said much about John Wick 5 other than, “Never say never.”
In essence, making a John Wick movie without Chad Stahelski isn’t an option I’d consider. It would be interesting to envision the result, but for me, it seems fitting that John Wick achieves peace – as shared in his interview with Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to his work, Stahelski is currently producing an anime film based on John Wick and a fresh television series titled “Under the High Table.” For your viewing pleasure this month, here are some newly released films to consider.
