As a fan of Zoe Saldaña and her illustrious career, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia at the prospect of a “Crossroads” sequel. Having watched the original film years ago, I vividly remember the charm and camaraderie between the characters, and seeing Saldaña express such enthusiasm for a reunion is truly heartening.
Zoe Saldaña expresses her willingness to be part of a follow-up for the road trip comedy-drama “Crossroads,” where she previously shared the screen with Britney Spears.
As a dedicated fan of EbMaster’s “Know Their Lines,” I recently found myself pondering over the possibility of Zoe Saldaña reprising her role as Kit from the 2002 movie in a potential sequel. If given the opportunity, here are some conditions I believe should be met to ensure a satisfying continuation of this beloved story.
Saldaña suggested, ‘Why not, indeed?’ She felt it might only succeed if Britney returns to portray her character once more, along with Taryn Manning and Anson Mount. Moreover, they should pen authentic scenes for them. It would truly be captivating.
Reflecting on the surge of sequels in recent times, I find myself remarking that we’ve essentially spent the past two decades immersed within the realm of sequels. It was once believed that sequels were exclusive to action and superhero films, but now they’ve managed to flourish across a multitude of genres.
The movie titled “Crossroads” focuses on three old friends – Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldaña), and Mimi (Taryn Manning) – who reunite after eight years apart, embarking on a road trip across the country. Anson Mount, Kim Cattrall, and Dan Aykroyd were among the stars in this coming-of-age film.
Saldaña remarked that experiencing the presence of Spears, who debuted in “Crossroads,” as a big pop star for the first time, was incredibly enjoyable. Despite her immense popularity, Spears was remarkably humble, friendly, and easy to interact with.
She added, “It was wonderful that the entire swift production team consisted solely of women – producers, directors, casting agents, and actors. Being immersed in a female-dominated environment filled me with a sense of empowerment, making me think, ‘I want to be part of this every time.’
