Pocketpair reveals there are “no plans” for Palworld anime but don’t give up hope

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the potential for a Palworld anime has me more excited than a Pikachu finding a Thunder Stone. The initial collaboration between Pocketpair and Sony Music Entertainment Japan, along with Aniplex, sparked our collective imaginations with the tantalizing prospect of an animated adaptation.

Pocketpair may not be actively producing a Palworld anime but that doesn’t mean we won’t get one.

This year, the creators of Palworld, Pocketpair, revealed they were partnering with Sony Music Entertainment Japan and Aniplex to transform Palworld into a multi-medium intellectual property. The game’s impressive debut performance, securing a place among Steam’s top 10 most-played games ever, seemed like an intuitive decision after this achievement.

Through their partnership, a PlayStation 5 version of Palworld has been announced, but due to Aniplex’s involvement, fans are wondering if an Palworld anime might be on the horizon. However, it seems that such plans may not have advanced as of yet.

During an interview at the Tokyo Game Show with TheGamer, team members from Pocketpair shared updates about the possible creation of a Palworld animated series. Although this news might disappoint some fans who are not as hopeful as others, there’s still plenty to look forward to.

Pocketpair shared that they’re excited about the idea of a Palworld anime, but nothing is planned as of now,” hinting that while production isn’t ongoing yet, it might still be a possibility in the future.

The developer went on talking about the subject and shared their opinion that “Palworld’s universe and characters could potentially make great animated content.” They also hinted at potential plans by saying, “We are open to considering animation as a possibility for the future.

In simpler terms, the dark humor in Palworld imitates the style of the Pokemon series, which could lead to amusing antics in an anime format. However, we’re unsure about the comic effect of scenes involving a creature called Lamball being subjected to gunfire or arrow attacks.

Although there’s still hope for a Palworld anime, Pocketpair currently faces a significant legal issue with Nintendo and Gamefreak. Until this lawsuit is settled, it seems unlikely we can expect an animated version of the game to be produced.
