‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Gets Sneak Peek at Mipcom as Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo Tease Paramount+ Spinoff Series

As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of television series, I must say that the upcoming spinoff “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” is an exciting development for fans of the original show. Having followed the characters’ dynamic for 10 years on “NCIS,” it’s a delight to see them reunite after such a long hiatus.

AT CANNES – “NCIS” enthusiasts who attended Mipcom were delighted on Tuesday when the stars of the upcoming spinoff titled “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” joined Dan Cohen, head of Paramount Global distribution and Republic Pictures, to display the long-awaited reunion of these beloved characters that has taken 12 years to materialize.

It’s quite a pleasure to reunite with a character once again after so many years,” Cote de Pablo expressed to the audience at the Palais, as she and Michael Weatherly graced the stage together. De Pablo and Weatherly shared a 10-year partnership on “NCIS”, portraying characters who hinted at a romantic connection throughout their tenure. Since 2013, when de Pablo left the series as a regular cast member, they haven’t appeared alongside each other in the “NCIS” universe.

De Pablo stated that the fans have long been curious about what transpired between Tony and Ziva, and it seems they’ll finally get to see it as ‘Tony & Ziva’ is slated for release next year on Paramount+.

In her presentation, De Pablo unveiled a video featuring the ex-characters from “NCIS”, Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, cohabiting as a couple in Europe. They’re raising their nearly teenage daughter, Tali, and are striving to strengthen their relationship.

Weatherly joked that he had to lose weight to return to the role of DiNozzo.

In the production, it was mentioned that there is a significant amount of running involved. This physical aspect is crucial to both actors. Moreover, he pointed out that the backdrop of Paris and famous European locations serves as an active participant in the show itself.

De Pablo noted that fans consistently inquired about the destiny of her character, and it reappeared sporadically for several cameo appearances on the show since its exit following Season 11. “There’s always an abundance of affection from the fans,” she expressed.

The central theme of the latest series focuses on the complex family relationships and their law enforcement history reemerging as DiNozzo and David find themselves, despite being distant from the U.S. “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” can be described as “a story about a family in trouble trying to make the right choices amidst challenging situations,” as Weatherly put it.
