Thriller ‘The Couple Next Door’ Sells to More than 55 Territories (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned film enthusiast with a soft spot for gripping dramas, I must say that “The Couple Next Door” has certainly piqued my interest. Having grown up in the confines of suburbia myself, I can relate to the stifling claustrophobia it portrays so vividly. The stellar cast, led by the talented Sam Heughan and Eleanor Tomlinson, is a testament to its global appeal.

The suspenseful television series “The Neighbors Two Doors Down,” produced by Beta Film, has captivated audiences worldwide after being backed by Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and Starz in North America.

Beta Film struck significant agreements in over 55 global regions, such as RTL in Germany and Italy, Amazon in the Netherlands (initially) and RTL again in the Netherlands (later), along with VTM in Belgium and YES in Israel. NBC Universal obtained the six-hour drama for Brazil and Latin America, while NOW TV acquired it for Hong Kong.

Praised by The Guardian as an “exciting, outstanding production,” “The Couple Next Door” set a record as Channel 4’s largest drama streaming premiere ever and enjoyed a successful broadcast debut during the previous winter season.

The six-hour long production features Sam Heughan (known for “Outlander” and “Suspect”), Eleanor Tomlinson (recognized from “The Outlaws” and “Poldark”), Jessica De Gouw (“Pennyworth” and “Our Man From Jersey”) and Alfred Enoch (“Harry Potter” and “How to Get Away With Murder”).

The series delves into the suffocating fear of confinement in suburban life and the consequences that arise from pursuing one’s deepest, darkest urges.

Originating from the Dutch series “The Neighbors,” produced by Millstreet Films, “The Couple Next Door” was penned by David Allison (known for “Marcella” and “Bedlam”), steered by director Dries Vos (“Suspect” and “Professor T”), and overseen by Jen Burnet in production. The executive producers are Jo McGrath, Walter Iuzzolino, and Alison Kee.

The show ‘The Couple Next Door’ was created collaboratively by Eagle Eye and Beta Film, and it airs on both Channel 4 and Starz.

Beta Film is the international partner for the series and handles world sales.
