‘The Penguin’ Episode 5 Hits Series High of 1.8 Million Viewers

As a film enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that I am thoroughly impressed by the rising viewership numbers of “The Penguin”. Having witnessed the evolution of television since the days of black-and-white sets, it’s heartening to see a modern series like this one garner such success. The Colin Farrell-led DC show has certainly found its audience, and I can’t help but wonder what the ratings would have been if we could rewind time and stream shows back in the 80s!

On Sunday, the fifth installment of “The Penguin” series drew a record-breaking audience for the show, with a total of 1.8 million viewers tuning in simultaneously on both HBO and Max streaming platforms.

As a movie critic, I’ve been closely following the progress of the Colin Farrell-led DC series since its September 19 debut. Initially, Warner Bros. Discovery shared that the pilot episode garnered a total of 5.3 million viewers over four days, with the show first streaming on Max on Friday and airing on HBO’s linear channel on Sunday. When Episode 2 premiered the following week, it attracted 1.6 million viewers in one night, marking a significant 17% increase in single-day viewership. This suggests that the inaugural episode likely drew around 1.3 million viewers during its first night on Max.
