Twitch star Kai Cenat joins new NBA creator program for special behind-the-scenes content

As a longtime fan of Kai Cenat, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by his latest venture into the world of basketball with the NBA. From breaking records on Twitch to inciting a riot in Times Square and even starring in a McDonald’s advertisement, it seems that Kai has managed to leave an indelible mark on every platform he touches.

The NBA has partnered with popular Twitch personality, Kai Cenat, for their brand-new influencer initiative. This partnership will feature an upgraded Creator Cup Series, a novel content distribution platform, and many other exciting elements.

Kai Cenat stands out as one of the largest online streamers, shattering various records on Twitch and unexpectedly causing a commotion during a fan gathering in Times Square that turned into a mini-riot.

Over the years, he’s scored a slew of celebrity guests on his broadcasts and even starred in a McDonald’s advertisement — and now, he’s aiming even higher with the NBA.

On October 21st, the NBA announced that it has exciting plans in store for content creators during the 2024-25 season. This year, they’re collaborating with popular influencers to offer behind-the-scenes (BTS) content covering a variety of topics such as food, fashion, and more.

The NBA’s Senior Vice President of Social and Digital Content stated that creators play a crucial role in our content network, enabling us to engage new audiences through fresh, creative methods. Since its inception in 2016, our creator program has seen phenomenal growth, and we are eagerly anticipating the exciting possibilities this season will bring.

On October 22, Kai Cenat is featured prominently in the initial broadcast, offering viewers an exclusive look at the New York Knicks versus Boston Celtics matchup from behind-the-scenes. Similarly, Drew Afualo, another well-known influencer, will have her moment in the spotlight on NBA social media platforms as she attends the Phoenix Suns versus LA Clippers game on October 23rd.

In his own words, Kai Cenat expressed that working alongside the NBA and fellow innovators this season is like a long-held dream realized, as he’s thrilled to offer more content to his followers than any previous season.

The NBA’s newest creator strategy doesn’t stop at the iceberg’s tip; it’s also expanding its collaboration with WSC sports. This expansion aims to broaden their network of NBA Playmakers creators, providing influencers such as Thinking Basketball, Swish Cultures, and others with unparalleled access to over 25,000 hours of NBA game footage and sophisticated AI editing tools.

Beyond that, I’m thrilled to share that the NBA is collaborating with Meta in a unique way! This partnership will allow creators to join us at live games for fan interactions and Quest demos. Additionally, they are teaming up with Snapchat, inviting renowned content creators to produce engaging content on their platform as part of the Snap Creator Program. I can’t wait to see what these collaborations will bring!

In addition, the NBA’s Creator Correspondent Program will be making a comeback for another season. This time, leading influencers will provide on-court commentary to their followers during matches.

Kai Cenat’s recent significant victory is a continuation of his success after establishing the Little Basketball Association in September 2024, where he set up a children’s basketball league and streamed their matches. Despite jesting about quitting streaming to play basketball and announcing a “retirement” from the game to concentrate on Twitch, it appears that the world of basketball has kept a close watch on him all along.
