Is Matthew Lillard In Scream 7? Here's His Hilarious Response

As a seasoned gamer and a fan of the Scream franchise since its inception, I must say that Matthew Lillard‘s comical banter about potentially reprising his role as Stu Macher in Scream 7 has me rolling with laughter. The man’s wit is as sharp as ever!

Approximately three decades past, Matthew Lillard assumed a primary role in the inaugural Scream film, portraying Stu Macher – one of the initial killers within the franchise. Remarkably, Lillard hasn’t reprised his character since 1996; however, when questioned about a possible comeback in Scream 7, he provided a humorous reply.

As Neve Campbell’s stand-in, I’ve been focusing on enhancing my feminine physique. The next step for me is to shave off my beard. That’s what’s coming up, according to what Lillard shared with Chris Hayner during New York Comic Con.

That was Lillard’s joking answer. His more serious response was also amusing.

Lillard clarified, “I’m not in the film, and if I were, I wouldn’t hesitate to tell you a flat-out untruth. Until its release, I’d keep on lying to you.

In light of how severely hurt Stuart was at the end of Scream, it seems incredibly hard to believe that he could return, even for this series. However, should such an improbable situation arise, Lillard has devised a strategy.

Lillard expressed his enthusiasm by saying, ‘That sounds great to me!’ He envisions himself undergoing intense bodybuilding, getting incredibly muscular, resembling a Marvel comic book hero. However, he jokingly adds that if this transformation happens, he’ll be Stu, the enraged and highly muscled version.

So far, Neve Campbell is the only cast member confirmed to return for Scream 7. Courteney Cox has expressed uncertainty about her participation in the film. The original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson will pen and direct Scream 7, which is set to release in theaters on February 27, 2026. As for Lillard, he’s returning for Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, as evidenced by its first poster unveiled at New York Comic Con.
